Unfortunately this place is not wheelchair friendly (tiny bathroom, even difficult for able-bodied and larger-bodied persons to navigate). Also, sides are extra. My wrap was $10.50... surprising that this doesn't include at least a handful of potato chips or fries.

The food here was unbelievable. Hot and delicious! Get the biscuits and gravy for sure. When you order a glass of orange juice you get a glass, not a shot glass. The service was super friendly too.

Second time for lunch while in town on business. Solid country style cooking with great service. Near diner side atmosphere as well as table tops in the second room.

Mac’s Diner is exactly what a proper Southern diner should be—unpretentious, friendly, and full of flavor. It describes itself as an “easygoing spot offering a menu of breakfast and comfort-food classics,” and it delivers on that promise completely.

I had the daily special: a fried pork chop with red rice and fried okra. Every bite was perfect—crisp, seasoned just right, and full of that old-school Southern comfort you can’t fake. The red rice was deeply flavorful, the okra was golden and crunchy, and the pork chop was everything you hope for when you see it on a chalkboard special.

Inside, it’s a cozy, classic diner setup with a counter lined with barstools and a few booths nearby, then an adjoining dining room with plenty of tables for larger groups. The big daily specials board is a nice touch and adds to the hometown feel. They serve breakfast and lunch only, closing at 2:30 p.m., and from what I saw, breakfast must be worth the early trip.

One of my dining partners ordered a hamburger—it looked phenomenal, thick and juicy, and he was more than happy with it. I also noticed a small dessert selection, including red velvet cake, which fit the Southern theme perfectly.

Service was excellent—our server was prompt, polite, and attentive, never letting our glasses dip below half full. On the way out, we met the owner, a very pleasant lady who clearly takes pride in the place.

Mac’s Diner has a large, free parking lot and an atmosphere that instantly makes you feel at home. I highly recommend it to anyone passing through Holly Hill or anywhere nearby. If I lived closer, I’d be there for breakfast regularly. This is Southern comfort done right.

If there were more stars to give for service I would give them a hundred more!! We traveled from Florida to spend the week on the lake. I stopped in to pick up a few sides for the BBQ we were having later that day, and the young ladies were so happy and had the best attitudes I've seen in a long time!! Perfect southern hospitality!!

I had a great experience at Mac’s diner. Holly Hill wasn’t on my radar as a place with delicious food but Mac’s diner put it right at the top. I had the club and fries and it didn’t disappoint. My friends had the daily special of 2 chili dogs and both were singing high praise. I looked over the menu and there were several things I wouldn’t hesitate to get. I hope to be back down that road real soon. The waitresses were all really friendly and pleasant. Mac’s diner might best be described as a jewel in the rough. Not that Holly Hill is rough just a nice surprise.

Imagine the theme song from Cheers “Where everybody knows your name” mixed with good ‘ol Southern Charm with the warmest of greeting as you walk in the diner, even as a stranger as I’d never been there before.

I came alone and hadn’t intended to dine anywhere as I was just passing through, but felt compelled to stop in, and upon entering I felt entirely at home, and fell immediately in love with both the visual charm of Mac’s Diner and witnessing how the employees interacted with their regulars. Absolutely a vibe of “customer is family” here!

With that being said, I was quickly approached with a menu and offered something to drink. I took in some time to really enjoy my surroundings and the warm atmosphere before deciding on my choice.

There is the cutest book nook of a wide selection of books to thumb through, though I failed to ask about it. Curious if they are there to enjoy book swaps with or for regulars to return and enjoy quiet time. (When I return I will ask and update here!)

Since it was still morning time, I settled on the Greek Omelette. I do love a solid mix of flavors in my omelette so the Feta cheese with olives, spinach, tomatoes and bacon enveloped in my omelette was a happy treat for my tastebuds. I digress, I do love ketchup, so I topped my omelette with a little bit of hot sauce and ketchup.. what can I say! I can assure you, the feta, bacon and olive flavors still shined through! :)

The hot coffee was fresh and was offered a refill without me having to ask!

And to top it all off, the affordable prices for their meals and specials are a fit for everyone’s pocket book!

Sometimes a person needs a place like this to center their soul when you don’t even know you needed it!

This is an hour away from my home, but you can bet that I will make this a regular visit on my free Saturday mornings!

Too much overhead makes the food too expensive. My son and I went to have lunch. There are no real kids options. There were 5-6 ladies standing around chatting while we paid $45 for a very mediocre lunch. All the old school decorations were cool but this place is lame.
