We are vacationing on Kiawah, our kids wanted Mexican food, and we knew the place at Fresh Fields had watery drinks and not great food. This place has a full bar as of April 2024. Service and food were excellent. My 6 year old had the chicken empanadas which were the best I’ve ever had, my chicken mole was yummy and quite spicy, they made a simple chicken and rice for our son, and my husband had a delicious fish burrito. House salsa was spicy and great. We had large house margaritas which were a little overpriced but appreciated. Entrees run about $11-$16. Melon agua Fresca was 👍👍
The food and atmosphere was so good!!! Service was a little slow but not too bad. Staff was very nice.
The food is cooked fresh and really authentic. the menu is very limited but that’s to be expected for the area . Service was friendly but only one server so hard to get refills. Chips and salsa were good. No birria available which is what I actually wanted. Plenty of parking. Fine for families. There is a small bar. Not wheelchair or stroller accessible
Service was great but slow because only one server. Food was very bland though and kinda of high for what you get. Chip and salsa not good.

What a terrible service, the truth is, it is the first and last time I go there, I will never return where they serve you whatever they want, I do not recommend it at all.

We were a little concerned when no one was there, but we’re pleasantly surprised by the food. Our party of 7 all enjoyed the food. We will definitely be back when we visit the area again!

Good food, friendly service. Enjoyable atmosphere. Had a very filling chicken quesadilla. Definitely worth coming too.
We stopped in for dinner tonight, and it was awesome. The chicken quesadilla was delicious, margarita was tasty, and the staff were all so friendly. I loved the decor too!

Went for lunch on wed. High hopes from reviews and happy to see a restaurant back open there. So disappointed. Very hard to order, bar was not open so no drinks, the bean tamale was amazing but the tacos inedible so dry.

As a native Texan I grew up on authentic Tex-Mex and Mexican cuisine. El Rincon brings me back to my Texas roots with a menu of fresh, homemade Mexican dishes that put the local chain Mexican joint to shame. Let's start with the homemade chips and fresh salsa - not jar salsa too often served by other Mexican restaurants. The salsa had a great medium heat and was perfect with the still warm chips. The menu, while simple, is well executed across the board. We all ordered different dishes and each was excellently prepared. Delicious chicken mole, tacos, and carne asada quesadilla prepared with homemade tortillas (there's nothing better) flavorful beef chunks and gooey melted cheese. We finished with crisp, cinnamon covered churros. The restaurant recently acquired their liquor license so we were able to enjoy our meals with cold Modelos and tequila sodas - a huge plus for most Mexican diners. The owner, Idalis, is delightful and deserves the island's support. We desperately need another locally owned, authentic, ethnic restaurant and they've shown me that they deserve our patronage. Although we own a restaurant just a mile away, we'll be having dinner with Idalis and her lovely staff every Tuesday night when we're closed and invite y'all to join us and help El Rincon thrive.
yummy and great people
El Rincon Chiapaneco is a lovely addition to JI. It's authentic. No, it's not gourmet for the American palette. It is; however, authentic. House made salsa, mole chicken that tastes as if I am in the Michoacán. Yes, they have beer and liquor. We also own a JI eatery and these guys are our new Tuesday night spot (we're closed on Tuesdays!)
El Rincon was empty. On a Saturday night. I think it was because of the lack of beer or wine. The food was really good, and they seemed to have a decent take-out business, but we were literally the only people in the restaurant. The place was very clean, the servers were very nice, and the decor was festive. I liked my el pastor burrito a lot. it came with a nice salad, and mediocre beans and rice. My wife liked her el pastor just ok. She added some salt. This place has promise, but I'm not sure if it will make it without being able to have a Mexican beer. I didn't ask if you could BYOB, but I'd be interested.
