Gilligan's Seafood Restaurant-Johns Island

I visit here when I am in the Charleston area, which is mostly in the winter and early spring.

Each time the waite staff has been extremely helpful and attentive. No matter what else is going on, they always are on point.

The gumbo is very good as are the grouper bites. The flounder is also very good.

I prefer sitting in the enclosed patio area which seems to be more comfortable although I have been inside for dinner as well. Just a different feel.

I would highly recommend this location to anyone.

Great location, plenty of parking and 3 areas for groups. Fun bar, lights on shelves of glasses that change colors. BUT the food and specials are divine! Start with Pineapple Scallops, Oysters Rockfeller, Crab Hush puppies. Add a Pina Colada/Peach/Mango with or without alcohol and in a glass or pineapple...fun! Main dishes are unique and save some room for yummy desserts. Must stop here EVERY TIME you are in Charlotte. Did I mention fresh catch of the day?

While we have thoroughly enjoyed our dining experiences here in the past, during our last couple of visits, we left feeling disappointed. The quality of the food has declined, and there have been long wait times with the service. Additionally, the live music has become uncomfortably loud, to the point where we have to shout at each other just to have a conversation, which detracts from the overall dining experience.

We went to the Moncks Corner (The Dock) restaurant, was not busy at all. Waited for most 10 minutes to be seated. We were given menus and one set of silverware, we looked at the menu and waited to give a drink order and had already decided what we wanted. Twenty minutes later nobody had come by to ask for a drink order or if we were ready to order food, meanwhile a table was seated behind us and a waitress came asked them about drink orders, then came back and took their food order and no one had not spoken to us. The young lady who seated us came to a nearby table and started bussing it and never asked if anyone had taken our orders. It was at this time I decided to get up and leave. People and staff saw us leaving and never asked if we were good or what was wrong for us to leave. I gave one star ratings but if I could give minus 10 stars, I would. Please don’t go here. Horrible Horrible!!!!!!!
