One of...if not the best experience in dinning this year. My wife celebrated our 36th anniversary at this spot. The food the service and the atmosphere were very nice. The price was less than expected on top. Never upset the pastry chef. She is a 10 out of 10.

My wife said this was the best seafood (flounder) she’s had in the U.S. My halibut was very good. The mussels and cocktails stole the show.

Delightful food, and a good value. Can’t say a lot of CHS restaurants offer both at the same time. Highly recommend. Well done Royal Tern squad!

Had a party of 4, all of our second times. Just as amazing as the first. But our server Brian tonight was amazing! He definitely made our experience even better. He had great knowledge of the menu and drinks. He coursed everything in perfect time. Can’t wait to go back!

A rock which holds down the finer dining on Johns Island - a must go for a local. Seafood heavy menu which is well executed. Standout item from this place - the Creme Brulee is without question the best ive ever had. Ive actually just gone late for dessert for this item only. A must to add to dinner.

To top it off, great modern decor and a massive parking lot means a stress free (and free) entry and egress, which is always appreciated.

A modern delight of regional seafood. From the moment you walk in to the Royal Tern you feel the attention to detail. The table settings are simple yet elegant and the staff is on point with the greeting and getting you seated. Each time we've come the food was incredible with the biscuits being as good as I've had anywhere in the country. The calamari was solid although less ground shaking than the biscuits. The scallops tasted fresh and were well paired with the gnocchi and a great sauce that didn't overwhelm either. My steak was simply prepared on their wood fire but the quality of the meat and the preparation made it noteworthy where normally even great restaurants can fall down doing a simple steak. We finished with creme brulee and it was perfect. My wife also really enjoyed her espresso martini although my old fashioned was just ok. All told a wonderful experience worthy of the price.

Kid-friendliness: I'm sure they're welcome but I wouldn't recommend children here as it's a fairly upscale atmosphere.

Wheelchair accessibility: Plenty of navigable space and a wonderful ramp. I didn't check the bathrooms.

Royal Tern never disappoints!!! Excellent from the yeast rolls to the best scallops that I have ever had. They were cooked perfectly with these beautiful little tasty gnocchi . Atmosphere is elegant and beautiful.

This is one of my favorite restaurants in Charleston Area. Oysters are a must and then don’t miss out on their key lime pie cheese cake when they have it (hoping they make it a staple item soon).

My husband and I adore this beautiful restaurant. It’s great for date night or when we bring the whole family. We have tried just about everything on the menu! I can’t say what my favorites dish is because they are all amazing!
And then, the service… it doesn’t get any better. Kelly was our server. She was full of energy, attentive and helpful. We felt like we were the only guest in the entire room from beginning to end!!

Filet mignon was way to salty. The grilled oysters were very disappointing. To much gridy/sandy bread and could not taste the oysters. What was very good was their sautéed mushroom side dish. Very expensive to be disappointed.

First time there for my birthday and did not disappoint.
All of our dishes were top notch and timely. Server was terrific even though he had a lot of tables sat at one time. Managers and bartenders helping run food and drinks was key to our experience.
The featured whole flounder was cooked perfectly and my swordfish was amazing.
Menu has something for all palates and the environment is great. Highly recommend.
