After years of ordering delicious food… awful to-go experience with undercooked chicken, burnt chips, and off-flavored dressing (unfortunately on the undercooked chicken I ate without realizing it was undercooked). I don’t think we could ever go back.

A gem! We orders the Poutine, sloppy Joe, special melt, Cuban ba mi, and a kids burger and everything was amazing! Fresh ingredients and flavor all around. The cucumber salad that comes as a side was spectacular and refreshing. Can’t wait to come back again!

This was our only reason for driving out to the island, I wanted to try a new (to us) place and they did not disappoint. It is a VERY small, cozy restaurant so I imagine it can fill up quick during prime lunch and dinner hours, thankfully we were going for a late lunch and were able to grab a table when we walked in. There was only one FOH employee and she was awesome from the moment we stepped inside, super friendly and helpful, and the kitchen was putting food out quickly. Due to a little mix up, I got to try the Cubano and the Cu - Bahn Mi side by side, two very different sandwiches, both were delicious, but the Cu -Bahn Mi was my favorite, so flavorful, it made my mouth very happy. I could have taken a pint, maybe a quart, of just the cucumber salad home, so fresh and made perfectly. Prices are reasonable, two of us ate our fill and had leftovers for $30. I don't exactly live close, especially with Charleston traffic, but I'm looking forward to making the trip out there again to try some of the other items.

Food was mediocre but the price was very steep. Me and a friend both got a patty melt one with a side of fries and the other with a side of chips. We paid almost $60 for a hamburger patty on toast if I would’ve known that was the price we could’ve went to Waffle House and got a fun experience

Good things come in small packages. This small restaurant packs a big punch. We sat at the bar and enjoyed the friendly atmosphere and the delicious food. The Southern General is a gem, with a unique and varied menu. Highly recommend.
