The Southern General is a nice local eatery. The staff is friendly and engaging. The go out of their way to make sure you're treated well. The cheese curds are a nice treat but not the same as those from Wisconsin. The have a nice marinara sauce with it. The French Dip is excellent. Well worth it. The JI3 is ok. The pimento cheese is the best part of the sandwich. The Cu-Bahn Mi is very flavorful. The fries are fresh and crispy.

Our food was amazing. The service was just as good. We stopped after seeing the Angel Oak before heading home. So glad the tree lead us to the Southern General. The burger was absolutely amazing as was the pulled pork sandwich. We will stop again when back in the area.

I visited The Southern General 11-15-25 for the 1rst time by advice from my Children. Husband had the FISH/CHIPS.. Excellent…. I had the Cubano Sandwich… OH MY.. SO EXCELLENT! The Service was ON SPOT! Every plate of food I saw come out of kitchen made me wanna come back forever and try ALL! Thank You Southern General for A EXPERT EXPERIENCE!

I can say I had the best turkey burger ever at this nice restaurant. It had the perfect smoked flavor. It was tender, not dry and well seasoned. The cucumber salad that accompanied it was delicious and so were the hand cut fries. We called the chef, who is the owner over to our table to compliment him. The salmon meal my friend had was also well seasoned and delicious. He provided us with a most pleasing sample of desserts also. We love, love this place...shout out to Cassidy for her excellent service also. Thanks guys!!!!

Yallz! I can't remeber the last time I walked out of a restaurant as happy as today! This is an amazing place. When I walked in, there was a picture of Bill Murray on the wall! Small place and cool as hell. The onion dip appetizer and the poutine appetizer where worth it alone. The Cubano was one of the best I've had. Tried my son's salmon and almost took it from him. The pulled pork on my Cubano and on the plate my wife had was incredible. All around outstanding experience. Service was amazing and she took the time to explain things and offer suggestions. In for vacation and I'm betting I will visit again before I leave to get some more. Thank yall for the experience and you rock!
If anyone is looking for a FANTASTIC caterer: I recently had Chef John Simon (owner of The Southern General and the Secret Recipe Chef) cater my wedding, and now husband and I couldn't have been happier with their service. From the start, they were incredibly helpful in planning the menu, drinks and coordinating all the rentals we needed, like tables, linens, and glassware, etc.
The food was pretty much the highlight of the reception—our guests could not stop raving about the quality and presentation. I wish I had more pictures of it all, but I only have the charcuterie board that they put together during cocktail hour. However, everything including the bar service was all top-notch; the bartenders were professional and kept the drinks flowing throughout the evening. They even surprised me as they knew how to make a lot of drinks that a lot of the bar tenders here on the island are unsure how to make.
What really helped me was they took a HUGE weight off my shoulders, as they handled all of the logistics and ensuring that I had everything I needed allowing me to enjoy my special day without worrying about the details. I highly recommend them for anyone looking for a reliable and high-quality catering service!

We made a stop here after visiting the Aqua Park. We had 6 in our group. Each of us ordered something different and sampled each other’s orders. The result was rave reviews from everyone. If you think the burger prices are high, go to McD’s, there you stand in line, get your own drink, eat frozen fries, processed cheese and clean up your trash. It’ s a no brainer for me. I would choose the Southern General anytime.

There is no reason I would go back. Food was just okay. The BBQ was dry. No fries just some thinly sliced cucumbers as a side. Really? $14.00 and you don’t even get fries? There are better choices, much better.

Today I enjoyed the chicken schnitzel sandwich and a friend the shrimp hoagie. Both were outstanding choices. Even my Arnold Palmer was well prepared
