My wife and I went here for a little date. At first when you’re driving up it feels like there’s not much around you. When you get to the property the building for wine tastings is behind the main house. When we walked in we were pleasantly greeted by a really nice updated wine tasting room. Very nice decor and plenty of room and space if others are there too. The owner, Shannon, was there and greeted us and welcomed us in, even though we were there 20 minutes early. He was super nice and we had a great conversation with him. He had a lot of fun jokes that tied into his wine making.
The wines were excellent. We had tastings of 18 different wines. Unlike some wineries in South Carolina, not all of his wines are sweet, which was great. We got a large variety of tastings all different kinds of wine. His Cabernet and Apple pie wines were my favorites.
Be sure to make an appointment. It’s just him there and when he doesn’t have appointments he’s either filling bottles or out in the field. Also, don’t let the drive in discourage you. He’s not a huge fancy winery, but his business and land is very well kept and very nice. We really love that he does this for the fun, the artistry, and he enjoys just making the different wines. We learned a lot from our conversations with him, as he is very knowledgeable.
We will absolutely be going back there for future date times. Thanks Shannon!
Great wines! Large and unique selection to taste and the owner was awesome to chat with! We were just passing through, but I assure you we will be back! Do make reservations if possible, we happened to walk in and was still welcomed and allowed to taste. Very nice atmosphere as well. Definitely recommend trying it out! Oh, and the apple pie wine is out of this world!
Great experience! Bring extra cash you will want to take a couple bottles home! Also a veteran so support them troops
We came to the winery with our friends for my best friends birthday and it was amazing. The guy really make it a good experience with jokes and stories and the wines were all beautiful! We got 6 bottles of wine for 85$!
Had an amazing experience today. It was our first experience wine tasting and it exceeded all of our expectations. Such beautiful property and such an inviting atmosphere by Shannon. Would definitely recommend setting up a private tasting. Excited to come back in the future to try new wine.
I brought my best friend here for her Birthday. She loves wine. We absolutely had a ball! Shannon is a hoot. He knows about wine and you can see the passion in his eyes. We will be back.
4 people in my party. 15 wines to taste and a beautiful cheese board to share while tasting. (You can order the board online when making your reservations. Board is there on your arrival.) Wine making is an art. Yes, science is involved but great wine has the rare capacity to move the drinker in a way that science cannot. There may be beauty in science, but it surely doesn’t evoke that gut reaction, that instinctual emotional response which characterises how we react to great art – wine included. Mercer House Winery was a "hard to forget" experience. We tasted lovely wines, heard the story of passionate winemaking, and had a glimpse of the future wines coming from this winery. Nous reviendrons.
Late post. Great experience with friends. Beautiful grounds and our hostess was awesome.
Visually disappointing. Random piles of materials and what appeared to be broken or abandoned equipment. Poor maintenance of the vineyard rows, weedy and overgrown. Out buildings in a shambles. Direction signs tattered and sun faded. Not for me. Killed my desire to stay for a tasting.
This is a great deal. I paid $25 for a tasting of 18 different locally made wines. The place is down a long winding road in a neighborhood, but once u get there, the atmosphere and people there make the trip worth it. If u like wine, come here and purchase a bottle or two.

Beautiful scenery and very nice wine. Staff is very friendly. Highly recommend checking them out
My boyfriend and I love to visit wineries, and this one is a very different but beautiful one. We decided to stop by on our way back to FL. Their Chocolete Cherry Cabernet Sauvignon is delicious and the staff is helpful and nice. We had an amazing afternoon and hope to come back sometime soon.
Excellent selection of wines! Great atmosphere! My husband and I came here for a date on a rainy Saturday and enjoyed everyMinute! Our favorites were: The Drunken Dove and Keylime.
Easily five stars. Pulling into Mercer, you get alittle nervous but post Covid has affected everyone. Once you get into the tasting room; it is an elegant and beautiful setting. You get 18 wine tasting for 25 which is a ridiculous deal. I wish we would of got our tenders name because he was amazing and respectful. My wife loved his respectfulness and voice so much, she told him he should do audio books. He kept us comfortable and explained every wine we were tasting. We walked out with 6 bottles of wine and he got a $40 tip. I know SC isn’t known for wine but check out this place before you leave. Trust me
We sent our aunt with her family to Mercer's for her 80th birthday last Saturday and they had a fantastic time. They brought some cheese and crackers and a birthday cake to snack on while they tasted some great wines. A few bottles of their favorite wines made the trip home with them. Thanks, Mercer, for treating them so well!
