This is not coming from a place of anger or bad intent. Our previous visits to the root cellar were 4-5 stars easily. Today we ordered what we normally order. The fried chicken was ok but the grits were cold and lumpy. The beans that they charge $4 for looked and tasted like they came out of a can. The macaroni and cheese was cold and flavorless. And the cornbread they are known for also was cold and not pleasing. Overall, the person who prepared our food had absolutely no care about how our food tasted. There was no love in our food. It was a disappointment because the root cellar is usually solid choice for good food. Again, this is not coming from a negative perspective of someone who wants to damage the reputation of the root cellar. I hope they read this and make the necessary corrections for the food to return to it's prior goodness. For the price of the meal, they really should make a better effort.

The Root Cellar burger is the best burger I’ve ever ate. There isn’t a time I’ve ate there that it’s been bad. I always do take out too- I can’t imagine how it could get any better

Anytime I’m in the Cayce/Lexington area I make it a point to eat here.any times I am with my tennis team. They have all loved it! The last time I came, my husband was with me and both of us had great meals.

I had the Nashville Hot chicken sandwich and it was awesome. It’s not a true Nashville hot because a real one is really hot, but I was ok with this. The flavors made up for it.

We were sadly disappointed. We placed order to pickup. Vegetable plate & fried livers. The baked potato was from the day before I’m guessing it was brown and warmed up in microwave. The Mac & cheese was not freshly made.. warmed from lunch. Cream of corn was good. The small piece of corn bread was excellent. The livers were almost burned. Cost $38.00 .. Restaurant is slowly going down hill. I wish they could get the spark back from when they first opened.. 9-5-25

First time at this restaurant. Entrees were good (hamburger steak and grilled salmon)side dishes were cold inc., sautéed brussel sprouts which looked and tasted like frozen Brussel sprouts. Husband's mac and cheese was not hot and the sweet potato casserole was not sweet at all. They weren't busy when we visited. Too pricey for underwhelming side dishes.
We won't return!

It was pretty good, but a little pricey and the serving size seems a little small. I had the steak sandwich and it was ok but not remarkable. Will probably come back and try it again just to be sure.
