Big John's Soul Food Restaurant & BBQ Grill

Husband and son went in for the first time and ordered us all fried chicken, Mac n cheese, yellow rice, and some various sides of veggies and oh my word. This was the absolute best food I’ve had in a very long time. Everything was absolutely delicious. We will 100% be back.

The couple running the place were very friendly, the food was very good, and the atmosphere was very welcoming. I love finding soul food when I come to SC. The potato salad, collard greens, yams, rice all were delicious as well as the fried chicken and baked turkey wings. The turkey wings were LITERALLY fall off the bone. I definitely recommend!!!! I would’ve posted a picture but I’ll try again next time haha!!

My experience was very very horrific, a can't believe that I was served old and recycled food Chicken wasn't fresh the rice was overcooked and hard Just horrific I mean absolutely dreadful 😢 😞 😔.

Looks can be deceiving. Looking at this place from the outside, you may not want to swing in. The inside could use a little work too, but don't let this fool you. The southern food here was absolutely great. Authentic. We met Big John and he takes pride in his food and business and the food reflects this.

WOW this bbq is DELICIOUS! Get off the main road & drive 6min to get this Memphis style bbq. Big John was outside cooking & he was even nice enough to give me a big bear hug. See my dad (big John) passed last night and we’re driving to Arkansas but then we saw BIG JOHNS place!! What a coincidence THX BIG JOHN!!

I just tried Big John’s for the first time and came across it on my travels in South Carolina with my friends. I could not give a better review on the food and staff that work here. They made me and my friends feel like family, especially Big John and Pamela who went out of their ways to be kind, helpful, and talk about their passions for food which showed in their cooking. If you are looking to try soul food for the first time or just want a delicious meal with good company I could not recommend Big Johns more

First time visiting this family owned venue. The young lady working the counter was very nice and polite, the food was very good but when it sat in a hot tray it tends to get dried out, like the fried chicken and cornbread. The baked chicken my granny got, was fall off the bone tender. She said the flavor was delicious. The yams were very good! While we were sitting there, I believe the young man who owned the restaurant came in and asked how we were and if we enjoyed the food. Told him it was our first visit, and he mentioned the grill out front with brisket, chopped bbq, and ribs, I told him we'd have to come back for that... it smelled so good outside by the grill area. The next thing I know, he came back inside with a small to-go container with a small sample... and let me tell you the sauce was finger licking, lip smacking delicious. The outside of the restaurant is less desirable, and you might drive by... but trust me, it's what's inside that matters. Good food, great service. We will drive 45 minutes for the bbq and other foods. Go ahead, give it a try, you won't be sad, you will be full!
