Love this place but the guest Wi-Fi hasn't worked here for months. Only their private Wi-Fi works.
Update months later: still no guest Wi-Fi
Update many months later: Finally Wi-Fi has returned! Changing my review to 5 stars!
Update: outlets on an entire wall don’t work (maybe on purpose?)
Dirty - bugs flying in the food case, indoor tables not clean first thing in the morning (I saw bug wings on a counter I went to sit down at). Outdoor tables hadn’t been cleaned, either.
They don't have cups and plates. Only to go. But they have tables. So, you paid 8 dollars for coffee and brownie and have to eat it from the paper towel like a bum, and drink bas coffee from a paper cup.
Tables are shaking, so you end up in a pond of coffee on the table.
I asked for decaf, and she said it's espresso based, but you still get a big cup. So, links like it's one shot of espresso and a bucket of water in it.. coffee has no taste, of course.. if you make espresso based coffee it is supposed to be a small cup.
Also, we noticed gnats flying over the pastry and around the tables.
The choice of pastry is really small.
Went here twice on our trip to Charleston, the coffee is good and the food and pastries are pretty good too. Only complaint is that the food seems a bit over priced, however it’s nothing unusual for a coffee shop.
My favorite coffee shop to work at!
Someone accidentally took my friend’s drink so I asked the barista if the one being made contained the correct milk. The gentleman behind the counter jumped in and barked at me that they were making it, assuming I was asking if my drink was ready yet. I was really taken back and am writing to say please tone it down. The Oyster Park location is always super friendly, though I know they don’t have as extensive of a menu. I get being barista on a busy day is tough, but don’t make or verbalize rude assumptions. That was embarrassing all around.
Great matcha latte and highly recommend the Elvis toast (peanut butter, banana, bacon, and honey drizzle) 🥜 🍌 🥓 🍯
I’ve visited this Mount Pleasant location a couple of times. The WiFi is slow and none of the outlets work - I don’t recommend this if you’re working remotely. Coffee and service is great. During a 7:30am rush, they accidentally made my coffee iced. They quickly offered a new hot coffee free of charge.
My breakfast sandwich was good but average. I didn’t realize the cheddar cheese would be shredded instead of sliced. The sweet potato latte is better than any pumpkin spice flavor I’ve had .
Sweetest staff, made my child’s day ? made a design on her hot chocolate! How cool. Food was delicious. The fall French toast was amazing with apples on top

Couldn’t hear because of the worship music blaring. I’m not a fan of having someone else’s beliefs shoved down my throat.

After hearing great things about Second State Coffee, I was so excited to check it out! The outside chairs were filled and the place looked hopping. I walked in and I stand loved the aesthetic. Lots of live plants and cute merchandising. There wasn’t any wait, which was great. However, stepping up to place my order I was instantly put off by the zombie-esque attitude behind the register. I was going to ask for recommendations, but after being asked in a monotone voice what I wanted, I decided to stick to my usual lavender latte. I brushed off the encounter and sat down with my daughter to wait for my drink. I had barely taken a seat when my drink was ready - quick service! But the gal handing me my drink was no friendlier. Called my name out in a monotone voice and when I wished her a good day, didn’t even really acknowledge I spoke. Thankfully, I was called to go pick someone up and had a reason to leave, because I had no desire to stay. Even the person cleaning up around the tables seemed miserable to be there.
Coffee was great but the atmosphere and energy left a lot to be desired. I brought it up to a friend who confirmed, “yeah, it’s pretty much always like that in there.” Well, if that’s the case, I’ll give my money to a business who likes to talk to their customers. But at least they got the coffee right!

Trying too hard to be trendy but missing the basics.
Huevos rancheros were ok, but no chorizo. Difficult to eat out of a cardboard box with plastic cutlery…. Especially with eggs over easy.
Toast came out burnt. Coffee was average. No paper towel in the male restroom, air dryer not connected. No basic condiments like ketchup (or similar). No table menus which caused delays at the counter with people trying to read the board.
Also a bit concerned about the uncleanliness of the air con.
Will find somewhere else for breakfast/brunch next time.

Food is solid, gf and dairy free options, nothing special. Good service. Bathrooms are a biohazard, like probably haven't been cleaned for over a year.
