It's not surprising it closed - the management was terrible, the chef's food was terrible. I guess it was easier to close it than it was for Gilligan's owner to fix the numerous problems due to their lack of overview.
Its located great. We were here once with my family. But never went there to eat again. The waiter was around us the whole time, not letting us eat. The portion sizes were small and the quality of the food was mediocre. It was not the worst, but I wouldnt go there, if I hadnt to. The menu has typical food for this area. But we liked the view on the lake and the ducks around.
This was the worst restaurant experience in my life!!!! My family and I were headed to Myrtle Beach when a strong storm came and detoured our plans, since we were in Mt. Pleasant they voted to go to Gilligan's. Never again! When we walked in, i was ready to walk out. The place looked dirty and smelled. But everyone was just sooo hungry they didn't want to drive anymore. There were only 2 other tables occupied in the entire restaurant, we should of known, they got orders wrong, the waitress caught a bad attitude and the food was horrible! The red rice was like rocks, the collard greens were disgusting, our plates were just messed over cause the food was insulating, i mean we all left there still hungry. I can't even tell it all, just thee worst place period.
Boyfriend and I are on vacation and thought this would be a great choice, I was wrong! Waitress had informed us that the Steam Pot would be enough for 2 to share and it was not! It was definitely lacking in presentation (which our app was small and served in a paper cup) and it was missing the sides! Had to ask for the corn which then came out and was mushy and microwaved. Then tried to discuss with a manager and he took $6.00 off which was not acceptable for how the waitress and him treated us rudely. Then was told to never cuss at his waitress and to please never come back! We didn't have to pay but we were willing and manager had a problem with this I guess â€â™€ï¸Sad to not be able to give them another chance to fix what experience we had but I would not go back even if they did fix it because they were so rude! Food is way smaller portions then what you pay for. We even had to go to Wendys after cause we didn't even get to eat!
The food was amazing. They were short handed but i only knew it because i was told. Our service and quality of our meal never showed it. Loved it!
The Food was amazing, from the appetizers to the crab legs and meals. Not to mention that they were short staffed and our waitress/server still provided us with excellent service and was very nice. I would definitely recommend eating here and I will eat at Gilligan's again my next visit to Mount Pleasant.
Don't bother! We were on vacation and wanted to avoid tourist type restaurants and eat like locals. Not here! Waited 20 minutes for table on Sunday evening and restaurant was empty! Service awful. They must be short handed. Food was maybe average at best. Cost high for type and amount of food.
The service was amazing- food was great! I definitely recommend eating here! Just be aware when its busy, something's you ordered might be late to your table which is what I experienced tonight- but overall It was a very enjoyable time here.
Kat was an amazing waitress! Got the fresh seafood platter with collards and rice. The rice was spicy and we told her and she offered to change it out, but we ate it anyway. It feels good to be home!
The food is good! I had the grilled seafood trio and my daughter had the shrimp tacos. The restaurant could be bombing if they could get their service together. Not horrible but just a little training could make this spot soo much better.

Decor is hokey, but the seafood was good. The oysters were not over fried, the way some places do them. Never tasted she crab soup with quite this seasoning; not as good as Maryland she crab soup. Fried okra was freshly fried and very good. Even tho I don't usually eat hush puppies, these were so hot and smelled so good, I tried them. Excellent!
The BEST shrimp in the low-country! Service was prompt and attentive. Nestled in a lovely location inside Sea Side Farms sub-division of Mt. Pleasant.
Beautiful view, dirty tables, squirrels running around, but don't forget DEAD BIRDS outside on the patio — rotting. It takes five servers to wait on one table, two were rude, and I even had to clean the high chair that was asked for twice. Do NOT order the All You Can Eat Shrimp. Yes, the food is great but it's a rip off and not worth $30. You already can't finish a plate and they won't even let you take your leftovers home. Better off getting a regular plate of shrimp. They just need a way to make you overpay. Managers need to hire more servers that are actually customer-friendly and know how to properly wait on people. It doesn't take five people to give you drink, food, silverware, etc. That is ridiculous. I really liked the shrimp but it's not worth it if you're going to be treated poorly and eat in a nasty environment. DEAD BIRD ROTTING next to the tables where people were eating.... come on! MANAGERS PLEASE HIRE BETTER PEOPLE AND FIX YOUR RESTAURANT.
Not sure if we hit an off night or what the deal was but my son and I walked in on this Saturday evening and was told it would be a 45 min wait. The restaurant was empty when we arrived at 7:15pm. I thought that maybe the back was full. When we were seated, it too was empty. How is it a 45 min wait for an empty restaurant? Yes, I took pics.
We had lunch with another couple here and ate outside on the patio. The She-crab soup is excellent as well as the popcorn shrimp entree. A wonderful view of the lake that the restaurant sit on..
