Good atmosphere, diverse crowd, food was great, Clint was awesome. We were on vacation, frantically searching for a place to sit and eat, and we’re glad we stopped here. Ask about the hot sauce the dentist makes.
Get the nachos they are amazing! They have plenty of parking and they share parking with the bodega. They have really good drink specials and great beers.
We had our son’s high school graduation party here and the staff was incredibly kind and helpful. They made sure everyone felt welcomed and served us with speed and hospitality. The food was wonderful! We will be coming back again!
The food was amazing. The waiter's made sure we had everything they were very kind and polite
Extremely Disrespectful Staff – Not Family-Friendly
We stopped at Juanita’s Bar and Grill after a day at the beach with my daughters and family. After finishing our meal, my daughter fell asleep in my arms, and I closed my eyes for just a moment. Suddenly, a staff member approached us in a very rude manner, telling us to leave the premises.
The bartender, a young woman, was extremely disrespectful and lacked basic customer service skills. Her attitude was unprofessional and unwelcoming.
This place is absolutely not suitable for families with children. I will never return, and I strongly advise others to avoid this establishment.
I wish I could give zero stars. My experience at Juanita was deeply disappointing and upsetting. As a person of color, I felt disrespected and unwelcome from the moment I walked in. The staff — especially the writers or management team — showed a level of rudeness and disregard that was hard to ignore. There were moments that felt outright racist, whether through dismissive behavior, tone, or how I was spoken to compared to others around me.
This is not just about bad service — it’s about a toxic environment that clearly doesn’t respect or value diversity. If you care about being treated with basic dignity, do yourself a favor and avoid this place. There are plenty of restaurants in the city that offer great food and respect their customers. Juanita is not one of them.
Last night, we were a group of 15 adults and two children. After a long day out on the boat, the little girls fell asleep in my arms while we sat outside at the patio tables. We had already eaten and were simply waiting for our Uber.
Out of nowhere, the blonde bartender was extremely rude and kicked us out of the place. This is the second time something like this has happened to us at this establishment. It felt discriminatory and racist.
We were peaceful, respectful, and just trying to get the kids home safely. There was absolutely no reason for that treatment.
I am a fan of Mexican food, while on holiday in Charleston, I chose this restaurant, took tacos, chips and salsa, salad, the choice is very small - well, and it is not very tasty, yes, everything is great inside, as a bar it is magnificent, atmospheric, but the food should be better
Mediocre Mexican Mt. Pleasant
Great building and art. The food was very good as well. We came here for dinner after a 12 hour road trip. It hit the spot. We were there Saturday night around 9 pm, and there were tables available.

The server was friendly and helpful. But the food was not as good as I remembered. We could see into the kitchen and saw a big tostitos bag so don't come expecting house made tortilla chips. Also, the jalapenos were canned, not fresh. The salsa was ok. But just ok. I'll stick with Mex 1 in West Ashley.
As for the atmosphere, it was on the dark side and the people sitting at the bar were incredibly loud for a Monday afternoon.
In terms of handicap accessibility, all tables on the ground floor level are very high bar tables. Not functional for someone in a wheelchair or someone with mobility issues who can't get safely on and off the high chairs. To get up to the second level where the normal height tables are, you would need to go up two tall steps. There is a railing going down the center of the steps but the railing is wobbly and spun a little when I grabbed it.
First time visiting - The food, decor, and service were perfect!
Great staff!
Texas Grandma &Nachos!!!
