Mario’s Peruvian Chicken is a hidden gem in Mount Pleasant! I had the 1/4 chicken with coleslaw and yuca root fries, and everything was absolutely delicious. The chicken was perfectly seasoned and juicy, with that signature Peruvian flavor that’s hard to beat. The coleslaw was crisp and refreshing, and the yuca fries—wow—crispy on the outside, soft on the inside, and seriously addictive. The staff was friendly, and the service was quick. A little pricey, but delicious. I was raised on Peruvian chicken being Peruvian. It is so extremely difficult to find a real authentic Pollo a la brasa. It is all in the seasoning and How long it’s a marinated you’ll find a lot of people claiming to be authentic Peruvian chicken and I’m telling you these people right here are the real deal. On that note, they should lower the price just a tad bit. :)

We order from Mario’s once a week because the chicken is absolutely delicious. Unfortunately, our order is incorrect more often than not — from missing sauce to including the wrong sides and even giving us the wrong order altogether. It’s frustrating to the point that this restaurant is about one incorrect order away from losing our weekly business.
