Wonderful traditional Greek food with some twists. Great quality, very tasty and since the owner/chef is right there in the kitchen overseeing things, you are in good hands!

Very disappointed. Salmon was overcooked. Very dry. Couldn’t eat it. Should have sent it back.

FABULOUS! Oh how I enjoyed this place!!! Everything was phenomenal:) First of all, the service. On point! Courteous and respectful. We had a dashing young man who was polite and saw to our every need. He gave us pointers on what to order, checked if I could swap a side (not normally done) and arranged for a fabulous mocktail. Sigh. The food was yum. We started off with the flaming cheese saganaki. This was served with a basket of pita bread. My entree was the WHOLE BRANZINO which was served on a wooden platter. This was an entire fish with the head on, bone-in and char-grilled with spices bedazzling the crunchy skin. I had this with the Greek potatoes which were incredible. My date had the KAKAVIA, a unique dish of shrimp, squid, salmon, clams, and mussels in a light lemon and tomato broth over fresh Greek pasta. Everything was spectacular; so very flavorful and beautifully presented. We rounded the evening off with the berry and fig panacotta. This place is wonderful and I'm so happy it's in a great with easy parking. The restaurant can be a little tight, and it's quite loud, but that's part of the robust culture of Greece. Embrace it! Opa!!!

Excellent in every way. Risotto stuffed w/cheese (Spanakorizo) was very tasty. The mussels were prepared in a red sauce and cooked nicely/not overdone and a great portion for 2. Enjoyed the Saganaki as well. To the owners: I would highly recommend serving the pita grilled/warm with olive oil and olives for the table as a nice touch.

Took us back to Greece! A wonderful dinner that reminded us of our time spent in the Med. The muscles saganaki was delicious along with the pastitaio. LOVED that they had Alfa beers. Will most definitely be back soon! One of our new favorite spots in Charleston.

My friend and I sat at the bar last night and had a delicious meal. James served us some yummy drinks including a Limoncello Spritz cocktail that was wonderful. Our dinner was mussels , Greek meatballs and the Lemon Orzo soup. It was beyond yummy! The most special part about Philosophia is the warm atmosphere. The servers are happy and the General Manager is an angel. She brought us a yummy Greek yogurt dessert in the house!Enjoy this lovely neighborhood gem!

Went here at the last minute for Valentine's Day and sat up at the bar. We live near a greek town called Tarpon Springs in Florida that has some of the best greek food in the country. Well I can honestly say this place tops it. We had two of the octopus appetizers as our entree , and added a side of goat cheese potatoes. One word exceptional. James our server and bartender was so friendly and welcoming. He made us feel like we were locals who were there all the time. So friendly and handled the busy Valentine's Day crowd seamlessly. The service there is impeccable, all the staff treated us like royalty. In fact , we had better service here than we'd ever had it some of the higher end restaurants downtown!

After reading such great reviews we were very disappointed; I guess all the glowing reviews are from people who've never actually eaten incredible Greek food. My night started off with the Hostess being unable to find our reservation because she was looking on the wrong day, but ended up finding it once she realized she was on the wrong date. Seated me at a two-seat table with a bench and a chair, no one seated around me except for a couple tables over to my left. Proceeded to quadruple seat our waiter's section within 5-10 minutes of my arrival, essentially seating people RIGHT on top of us, despite there being multiple open tables across the restaurant. If the place was busy, no issue, but none of the other tables ended up being filled the entire time we were there, so there was absolutely no reason to seat everyone right on top of each other. Because the tables are so close together, the runner who was bringing out most of the food would put his butt right in the face of the patron seated next to whichever table he was delivering food to...kind of bizarre and uncomfortable having someone's rear end right in your face while trying to eat and have conversation. Octopus was good, sauteed greens had absolutely no flavor whatsoever, Pastitsio had burnt top which was partially inedible and the sauce on the plate didn't match the sauce baked into the Pastitsio, so it was an unappealing combination of flavors to have the rich, aromatic meat sauce in the Pastitsio with a super basic marinara type sauce to complement it. Waiter was on top of refills, but overall was a very weird experience and very disappointing food except for the octopus. Will not be returning or recommending to anyone.

I just went recently and forgot to leave a review, but I had to go back and leave this because people need to know how great Philosophia (and its team) is.My wife and I have gotten such great service at the bar so we decided to sit there again. James was our bartender and did a fantastic job. Very attentive, and had some great recommendations. Our favorite drink was the Greek 75.We have our go to when we order here, but we decided to branch out this time. I ordered the Ribeye, and my wife ordered the Halibut. We ordered Salmon Tartare and Steamed Clams as appetizers. The kitchen sent everything out at the right time and cooked perfectly.Another wonderful evening here, and we will be back for many more. I heard they just opened their sister restaurant Taverna, around the corner. If it is anything like this restaurant, and I’m sure it is, I know it will be just as amazing. Excited to try that soon!

Food, service and atmosphere are all great! Food is on the more expensive side but worth it. Would recommend ordering fish. They also have a fun selection of Mediterranean wine.

The closest I've found since visiting Greece last year. The spinach pie (spanakopita) and zucchini fritters (kolokithokeptedes) were pure perfection. Ecstatic to have found a place that satisfies those cravings. Will be back for more!

What a wonderful experience! We were in town for one night and were looking for a last minute spot to eat dinner! There were no available reservations but we were told we could try to sit at the bar and were successful! We started out with the Burrata and beet salad (delicious!) theHummus and the keftedes (meatballs) and holy cow they were AMaZING! My fiancé ordered the whole Branzino and I ordered the Pastitsio! Both were amazing! I should note that we are at the Hotel Bennetta restaurant (The Gabrielle) a few nights later in Charleston and it was not even close to the quality and taste of Philosophia! I just can’t say enough about this restaurants staff, atmosphere and food! 10 across the board! We will be back! I wish I had more photos but I was enjoying the food so much I forgot to take photos before we ate it!
