Nice place to sit outside look over the water and have some shrimps.Wheelchair accessibility: There was a ramp to the main entrance. To get to the patio, you do need to go down 5 steps, however.

Couldn't have asked for better bartenders, waitstaff, and even the locals! My frozen Painkiller was nothing short of AMAZING! Raw oysters were delicious. I'm spoiled with my husband cooking my steaks, so to me my filet lacked flavor. I would much rather have the option to order a sweet potato for a side instead of mashed potatoes, but let me tell you....I could have made a meal with the butter beans all by themselves, and I'm VERY picky about my butter beans (very). I wish I had more now....and a frozen Painkiller! Don't pass this place up because of the wait at dinner, use the bar to fill up your wait time. My husband's food was great! Ben was so very sweet, and attentive!Kid-friendliness: I thought the bar being in the back made Shem's even more kid friendly!

This is a review of the Shem Creek Crab House in Charleston South Carolina. We haven't coming to this restaurant every time we come to Charleston South Carolina and the food atmosphere and service never disappoint us.My only slight complaint with everything these days is that it seems that the prices are just getting out of hand. Well the quality of the food is great I do now believe that the prices outweigh the portions by a long shot.Still a fantastic place to eat and visit however it will not be something that we will be doing often anymore as it is now cost prohibitive.

Wasn't super impressed with the crab boil. The corn was soggy & seafood was overcooked. Service was ok. The atmosphere was the best aspect with views of shem creek.

This place had good food and service, but the lower porch we were seated on really lacked atmosphere. There were no decorations in the room, and a fan light was out, so it was very dark, and had a very spartan feel to it. The kids enjoyed the food, but I'm not sure I'd be in a rush to return here. Staff was very professional and timely.

The Oysters McCleland were fabulous and the bacon wrapped stuffed shrimp never disappoint
Great beer selection and fantastically friendly staff. Excellent view of the river. Very difficult to eat healthy or vegetarian though.Vegetarian options: Very few vegetarian options. Even the side vegetables, mostly were prepared with pork.
A group of friends and I had dinner last night. The food was great, but the service was poor. Our server was new and unfamiliar with the usage of her electronic device. She confused the orders and neglected to bring somebitems that were ordered. Our check out experience was terrible. It took a long time to get our bills and they were wrong with items charged to the wrong people. We waited for change for a long time as well. The server had a nice disposition but is not experienced enough to be serving tables.

When we went here they were understaffed, and it took a while (2+) hours. Let me tell you though. The food is totally worth the wait. Our server was new, but even still they had ppl running around like crazy and getting the job done. The butter sauce they make is out of this world. A must revisit.

My teen children took me out to dinner here for my birthday, I must say I was very disappointed. All the fish had a very bad fishy taste, my meal was 37.99 but the portions were so tiny for the price. The service wasn’t that great either. 3 people got the wrong food while we were there. Our hush puppies came out cold after we were done eating and had no butter. I was just very disappointed, I thought $130 for 3 people would give us good portions, good food, and good service.
Great food
