I have been eating Skoogies since I was a boy (in their first location (which is now a paint store). While I liked the old location better (heavily adorned in Chicago Bears memorabilia and posters, current location is perfect for keeping the spot a locals only treat. When I'm in town, especially with non-locals, I like to take them here for a yummy treat. It's hard to believe something as simple as a Chicago dog can be so wonderful no matter what time of year it is.

If you're looking for a genuine Chicago Hot Dog (Vienna beef), complete with poppy seed bun, sport peppers.. or may the Chicago Beef sandwich, don't miss this gem in the Mt Pleasant area. Skoogies has been a staple for our family for 12 years. They have the best shoe string fries!

Had a craving for a hot dog and found this little hole in the wall joint. A solid hot dog, despite being a little small for the price, with a great chili sauce. I got mine with cheese and mustard. The star to me though was the basket of fries with season salt. I will be stopping here to get some chili cheese fries FOR SURE!!

They moved since I last ate there. They also downsized the menu greatly. But if you're looking for a hole in the wall to get a Chicago Dog and good french fries, this is the place. It is literally in the Dunkin Donuts building. Has maybe 3 tables, a counter with a dozen stools and a walk up order counter. It's a hot dog dive, with pool hall chili. Food's good and very reasonably priced. No pastrami. Great place to take a Cubs fan!

Love it! A hidden little gem in Mount Pleasant if you're a Chicago hotdog fan.
Classic hot dog joint. I’m a New Yorker living in Charleston, generally super judgmental about hot dogs. I ordered an all the way dog (Chicago style plus kraut) and a kraut/mustard/onions and they were both solid. Good bun to dog to toppings ratio and I ate the Chicago style second and the bun was not soggy at all. Fries were good too and a large portion. All for $15!

I can understand that this place is a local establishment and the regulars love the old time charm of it. But it was a little unorganized ordering and the guy taking our order seemed a little stressed out handwriting tickets and giving them to the kitchen. I was going to go with the Italian beef but they seemed kind of overwhelmed so I just went with a chili cheese dog and a corn dog. I was going to get just the bigger hot dog but they were out so I went with the regular. There wasn’t anything bad about it, there just wasn’t anything really great to me. I want to go back and try the Italian beef next time. I think that would be more of what I would prefer next time.

Thank goodness he didn't ask me how I wanted my Chicago dog. Normally I would skip the sauerkraut but I'm a changed man. Best dog ever. Everything was fresh, just the right amount of spice. And an amazing price too boot.

Feeling like I’m in a Time Machine. The ambience is great and perfect temperature to dine in. The soft poppy bun is the best ever. Lunch for two $13 something you can’t find anywhere else in the area
