Excellent food. Large portions. Service was meh, but the guy seemed off, so I'm still giving it 5 stars. Very trendy spot. Location was a little strange but with the food and the ambience and the manager, this place was good. Decent prices too!!!

After a long day of flying and sitting around in airports, we arrived in Mount Pleasant, SC. We decided to eat at the Granary which was near to our hotel. My wife had the crab cake on top of grits and a side of the maple glazed Brussels sprouts and I had the shrimp and grits. Both of our meals were excellent. Service was outstanding.

Loved it! !Had to come back after a very favorable prior visit. Sat at the counter to get an insider view of this chef and his team as they create culinary masterpieces. Everything about this place is exemplary. Staff is very attentive, felt like we were longtime friends. Manager was engaging and highly effective- watchful eye over every dish leaving the kitchen, not that that team needs watching (listen up Indigo Road-this team is a goldmine) corn and fish fritters with the "comeback" sauce will keep me coming back. Not crazy about the wings- Sausage was good but Spatzle was phenomenal. My husband thought the oat crusted pear tart was the best dessert he ever had. The fact that he doesn't like pears speaks to the brilliance of the dish. Definitely coming back-Thanks for a great time

Came here for dinner with my boyfriend and it was great! Service was great and everyone was friendly. I got the shrimp roll with their homemade chips and I side of their excellent blue cheese dressing to dip them in. I definitely recommend putting the pickles on the shrimp roll. My boyfriend got the fried chicken and loved it. Overall great experience!

Despite a disappointingly small dish of Brussels sprouts - though really, what did I expect for just $5? - I thoroughly enjoyed my mahi mahi. They were featuring it as their catch of the day, and it was the perfect meal. Severed with a vegetable succotash that felt both fresh and hearty, it was a great dinner.

I really wanted to like this place. I like what they are trying to do with the menu. Some if it changes based on what is in season. With that being said, the execution and choice for small plates was rather small. We showed up right after opening at 5 and there were two other people at the bar. When we left after 6, there were only 9/10 patrons in the restaurant. I don't know if that is normal for the restaurant on a Thursday evening in peak summer season but it is out of the norm for the restaurants we frequent in the area. The atmosphere and inside decor is modern rustic which gives it a nice clean relaxing look. The parking lot is behind the building. The restaurant doesn't stand out from the street as I believe it is 1 of 3 tenants in the same building. You will miss the restaurant from the street if you aren't looking close for it. Food: We ordered 3 small plates. The corn/fish fritters, 1/4 lb peel and eat shrimp and a heirloom tomato salad with arugula, herbs with a vinagrette dressing. They were all good, but the shrimp was rather chewy and tough indicating they had been overcooked. The comeback sauce with the corn/fish fritters was the best part of the meal. It was a mayo/chili based sauce. The restaurant also has a small kids menu and the kids seemed satisfied with the grilled cheese and mac & cheese. Don't go by the menu on their website as it doesn't match the actual menu which we expected. Service: This is where the restaurant could improve the most. Our waitress didn't seemed too thrilled to be there. She had few words to say and spilled part of a glass of water on the table and she didn't offer to clean up her spill. It seemed the cooks were not happy to be there either. The way the restaurant is setup, you can see and hear the cooks if you are close enough. The head host came back and told one of the cooks something and he put his head in his hands and wasn't happy. The other two cooks also didn't seem thrilled to be there by their actions, demeanor and words. If I could give it 3.5 stars I would. Not bad but not great. With the quality of food restaurants in the area, it will be interesting to see where this restaurant is in a few years. If they improve in a few areas, they could be good. I doubt we will revisit with the number of other quality restaurants in the area. Food taste/quality: 3.5 Atmosphere: 4 Service: 3 Prices: 4

5 Stars for The Granary! I was visiting by myself since I was on a work trip, and the bartender was kind and accommodating. Their happy hour specials are excellent - $5 house wines, $2 off draft beers, a $7 margarita and a bunch of snack deals. I ordered the $1 happy hour oysters (5 of them, no regrets) and the cheese board. The oysters came out and were delicious. The cheese board was nowhere to be found. I waited and waited - about 40 minutes - while the friendly bartender checked in regularly and apologized. When it did finally come, the waitress explained everything and the four cheeses, bread and accompanying sides were all very tasty. The bartender comped two glasses of wine because of the delayed cheese board- hospitality at its finest! I'll be back for certain on my next visit to Charleston.

Good for brunch. Very fairly priced. In house made sausage that is very good. Grits are extremely tasty. Only reason I didn't give 5 stars is because the service was pretty slow, and they claimed they didn't have any open space in the restaurant and sat us at the bar, even though the place was only about half full and we only had two people.

So, I want to start off by saying that the meat options here are pretty good; most people in my party enjoyed their meal. If you're a vegetarian or vegan, be warned. My table got a platter of meats and cheeses, and I tried one of the cheeses and some of the pickled fruits/veggies they had, and was impressed. Once my entree, the vegetable plate, came out, I was very disappointed. It's a mix of their fresh veggies, some quinoa, and a small salad. Everything was completely tasteless. I'm pretty sure the quinoa/veggies had zero spices at all. The side salad was mediocre, specifically whatever dressing they used. I tried the Mac and cheese side that one of my party members had ordered, and while alright, was very thick. If you're looking for good non-meat options, look elsewhere!

Unbelievably good. I was by myself and they offered to seat me at the kitchen bar. What a treat. Eating, literally, across from the open kitchen. All the chefs (5) seemed to enjoy having someone watching them. The entire staff was professional and very well mannered. Looking forward to my next visit.

I'm decreasing my Granery review to 4 stars, because, although after several visits, the food is ALWAYS great, the service is hit and miss. Sometimes it's attentive, sometimes we're ghosted. It happens consistently and it needs to be addressed. Favorites are the wonderful warm shrimp dip, Brussels, cheese/charcuterie, scallops and pork chop. You cannot go wrong with anything on the menu, but these are stand outs. When they have soft shell crab, order it. On a beautiful bed of arugula, it's lovely.

Well... so I decided to check out the joint after the yelp takeover the other day. I have to say, I wasn't impressed. I had a seat at the bar for happy hour. The staff was very friendly, however they didn't seem to be on their game. I started out with a Diet Coke for $3. I was a bit surprised when they brought me the can. This lead me to believe they didn't have refills, which is in fact the case. No refills... not sure why a bar would not have pop from the fountain, but the granary does not. I started with the half price oysters. They weren't very good. They weren't cleaned well, and had bits of shell, and other "stuff" in them. Not sure what it was, but they just didn't taste very good. I asked for more lemon halfway through, but it never came. I then had the double burger, which was cooked perfectly. The burger was pretty good, but slightly salty. The truffle fries were great! Came out hot, and plentiful. I also ordered a side of the Mac and cheese. It was pretty good. I'm pretty particular when it comes to my Mac and cheese. I actually like kraft. I'm not a fan of a bechemel sauce, and often find southern Mac and cheese to be grainy/gritty, and unpleasant. I'm not sure if it's the flour that's used, or the type of cheese. Nonetheless, this Mac and cheese didn't have that texture, which made it quite good. Other than that, this place seems nice.. I would suggest they get a fountain or gun for their pop, and take better care when shucking the oysters.

Had our Easter brunch today here and The Granary did NOT disappoint. The decor and ambiance is beautiful, and the staff was extremely welcoming. All topped off with an amazing selection of cocktails and food. I was totally caught off guard and extremely shocked to see their sausage has blueberries infused into it, AMAZING!!! Definitely will be be back to try out their dinner options. Awesome job guys, salud!

Food was so good, nice atmosphere to top it off we had the best waiter Willem. We will definitely be back. The architecture and style is Instagram worthy. Food is beautiful too. The menu has great options to choose from and all were delicious. I was a very happy customer!

We had our first Granary experience last weekend with our parents who were visiting from Greenville. The overall environment was absolutely beautiful. They had great, comfortable seating with fantastic ambience. We were greeted with a smile from the hostess and seated immediately. Our waiter, Jim, had exceptional knowledge of the food, drinks, and the wine selection to pair with our meal. He was very tentative to our table and was able to answer any and all questions we had as well as make wonderful suggestions. He made our overall dining experience fantastic. We enjoyed apps, dinners, as well as dessert and were not disappointed. The seafood was local and from what I understand most of the food was acquired from local areas which is always wonderful to see. We spent almost two hours here and enjoyed every minute of it. The food was cooked to perfection. For what we ate and drank prices were reasonable. The kitchen is open so it was interesting to see the kitchen staff working on our food. I was also impressed with the Acoustics inside of this building. The restaurant was completely packed as well as a small bar area but was not too loud. We've been to some places where we felt like we were yelling at each other from across the table but this was not the case here. I suggest this place a hundred percent when visiting Charleston or for locals looking for a nice place to go have dinner. If wanting to go to dinner I highly suggest making reservation as I don't think you would be able to walk into this location.
