Wow, just wow! Stepped in for a late lunch and stumbled into the best happy hour experience!! The house margaritas were amazing and im a tequila snob!! They have the best ice too. Hoping they switch it up so I can come daily to experience more of this top notch restaurant!! Best staff, service and the food was QUALITY! Plenty of parking, outside seating. Cozy place! Pictured are the taco, chips and salsa and dilla.
Called before going to see if there was enough seating for 6 last night. Service was extremely slow sat for about 30 before getting water/drinks waitress seemed preoccupied, with the entertainment food was not great at all tacos were cold and tasteless only ate 1/2 of one. Overall our 1st visit was very disappointing probably our last.
Disgusting service and food!
The tacos were as amazing as the service! Alexis made our evening special and we will be returning
I went her last week with a couple of friends and I can’t say enough good things about the place. My server Alexis was super attentive and kind - would definitely recommend sitting with her. I got the Carne Asada Tacos and my friend got the fajitas special - both were so tasty and visually aesthetic. Will be back for sure. 10/10
The staff members saw that I had an accent and were very, very discriminatory towards me and my family members.
We were seated at our table a few feet away when “Nicolae” and “Nick Nick” (see reviews below) arrived last night. He immediately became incensed at the young hostess when she politely explained that a 2-person party would be seated first and that his 4-person party would get the next available table of that size. His wife continued to complain with a very patient waitress and a supervisor, and then they left in a huff.
Our food was, as usual, delicious and the service was excellent.
BEST MEXICAN IN CHARLESTON!!! My mom and I were so excited to finally find a good Mexican restaurant. The food is delicious!! Everyone definitely needs to try this place.
Highly recommend for Mexican cuisine, best in town! Every dish is delicious and the tequila espresso martini is amazing!!

Best Mexican in Mt Pleasant - no contest! Eat here regularly and it’s consistently delicious. This is NOT one of the basic sloppy Mexican restaurants that are found all over - this is freshly prepared ingredients. I counted 15 ingredients in my chop salad & all were fresh.Even the salsa has a subtle smoky flavor and is super interesting home made delight. Wait staff is always nice & the vibe is high end but casual neighborhood hang out . It’s not cheap but I’ve paid more at others restaurants & been disappointed. I recommend Tierra al Mar to everyone

The star of Tierra Al Mar is the food, so we'll start there. Carne asada tacos were so delicious we wished we ordered 3 more. The fried shrimp tacos were tasty. The Romaine chopped salad was a symphony of flavors, and with grilled shrimp added, was really, really good. The corn bowl with cabbage and avocado was, well, we just kept eating and eating! And a MUST try is their homemade Red No.1 hot sauce - remarkably good. The only disappointment was the guacamole. Too much lime and salt totally overpowered the avocado.
However, the desserts, oh the desserts! Mayan chocolate pudding with mezcal whipped cream was rich, with perfectly balanced flavors, and the churros were some of the best we've ever had. They were served with a cream that we wished was in a bottomless glass. This chef really understands how to balance flavors.
Drinks were good- the mezcal old fashioned was smooth, and a nice twist on the classic. The pisco sour was OK, but not quite authentic. Ambiance is lacking because it's tiny and packed, and seats near the front door are very cold with the door constantly swinging open. Service is excellent. Parking is plentiful.
Update: Their margaritas are fantastic!
