Cozy little French bistro with a lot of charm.
The owner is lovely and runs the whole kitchen herself — impressive!
Free toasted bread with butter was delicious. The duck steak was rich and tender, almost like wagyu!
Not the best French food I’ve ever had, but definitely a great local spot worth checking out.

Ville St. Bistro is a casual upscale French restaurant that hits all the right notes. Refined without being stuffy, relaxed yet elevated. From start to finish, the service was top tier—warm, attentive, and impressively knowledgeable, especially when describing the evening's off menu specials.

I began with the shrimp Provençale appetizer, which was light, flavorful, and beautifully seasoned. Then came the French onion soup—without exaggeration, the best I’ve ever had in my entire life. The broth was rich and velvety, the onions deeply caramelized, and the cheese topping was perfectly melted over a toasted slice of bread. Absolutely incredible.

The French bread, served warm, had a perfect crust and airy interior, ideal for dipping or enjoying on its own.

For the main course, I had the lamb chops with a balsamic reduction sauce, and they were excellent. Tender, juicy, and perfectly balanced with the sweet tang of the reduction. Paired with a glass of Bordeaux wine, it was a flawless combination.

They also featured enticing off menu specials like a refreshing watermelon salad, a buttery lobster roll, a thick juicy pork chop, and flavorful baked oysters.

Ville St. Bistro is a standout in Mt. Pleasant and a must visit for anyone who appreciates top quality French cuisine, excellent wine, and genuine hospitality. I’ll definitely be returning and bringing friends.

This place is amazing but the atmosphere is subpar. It needs a refresh. We love the food but go a few times a year because the decor, tables, over sized TVs and overall ambience is not that great for the price. It everything was a 5, the food and pricing would match.

I didn’t expect to see a tv at the bar. I wish the lamb was more tender but great flavor. The potatoes were the best part of my meal.

Top of the line French cuisine experience! It is literally the best French food in the US and the team is world class. Highly recommend!

Good food but a bit overpriced. Chef was friendly but the server was a little condescending when I wasn’t familiar with their rules of ordering. Also, the group single check pay policy made a lovely group dinner very awkward at the end. Drinks made up a good chunk of the bill but not all of us were drinking…not fun to try and split the check and Venmo each other. Just awkward and won’t be going back just because of that.

What an amazing meal! Philippe and Mark will take great care of you. Everything is made from scratch and made to order. Everything was outstanding from the apps to the entrée to the dessert. Great selection of French wines as well as bourbon!

We were excited about past reviews, but we’re disappointed, having to write one. The food was not as outstanding as the prices. Our waiter was exemplary and very attentive!

We totally don't get all the lavish praise this restaurant gets. Bibb salad with goat cheese: goat cheese was a few crumbles on top of a piece of bread. The duck entree: overpriced and overcooked duck, nothing special haricot verts. The potatoes were the best thing and they probably cost the restaurant 50 cents. Baked oysters lost all their juiciness and were too salty. This is not the experience described by others. Sorry.

Another outstanding meal by Chef Carol last night at one of our very favorite restaurants! Two of us enjoyed the delicious duck liver pate and special entree salad featuring a perfectly seasoned duck confit leg, poached pear, candied pecans and Gorgonzola over greens. One person in our group ordered and was very happy with the special salad of peaches, tomato, burrata and aged balsamic glaze and the escargot. My husband was very pleased with the mussels w frites and all of us loved the dessert beignets . My very favorite dish at the Bistro is the crab cakes, which are full of lump crab meat perfectly seasoned and are so large I usually have to take one home. I think they’re the best crab cakes in Charleston, a very high bar to reach! Other favorite dishes of ours are the rich French onion soup, all the salads, the flounder maison with a brown butter lemon sauce, Tarvin shrimp, steak frites and the lamb chops. I also have to compliment our server Jillian, who is very knowledgeable about the menu and specials and always friendly and cheerful. If you haven’t tried this restaurant, you’re missing a special meal, but don’t plan on rushing through it. Chef Carol is very particular about her food and it’s totally worth enjoying a leisurely outstanding meal!
