This is one of the best hidden places to eat. Anytime I go to Charleston, I make sure to get dinner.

waitress (Angela) was so rude. we asked what the vegetables were and she argued with us about the vegetables saying it was red rice slaw and beans. but it says all that and veggies on the menu..,.. still no clue what the veggies were. we ordered hush puppies and we got 4 for $4.99. no butter. no salt or pepper and had to ask for refill of water. with a rude answer . you better know what you want when you go in because the waitress does not have time to answer any questions. the 4 of us -- all ladies over 55- will NOT go back

It's pretty good seafood and a beautiful sunset over the marsh. The staff was super friendly and helpful. The wait was about 30 minutes, and they gave us a pager while we waited outside by the bar on the lawn along the river.

The food here is amazing Lowcountry seafood! We tried a variety of different options from the menu including grouper, shrimp, scallops, oysters, boiled peanuts and she crab soup and all of it was 10/10. Would definitely recommend to a friend looking for a lowkey place to eat great seafood.

Had high hopes of eating there by myself when my wife was sick. Asked to sit at the bar so I wouldn't occupy a table and was told they don't serve food at the bar. Was offered a table for a 30 minute wait even though the restaurant was at 50% occupancy. When I offered it'd be cheaper for the restaurant to let me eat at the bar rather than occupy a 4 top I was again told, "Yeah, but we don't serve food at the bar." Do better.

I’m from Florida and I’ve been in Charleston for the last 3 months for work. We’ve been here twice since then and it is my favorite spot for dinner! Atmosphere is simple and amazing. Service is the quintessential southern hospitality style…and I am a sucker for it. I love mom and pop places, back home I always support our small local businesses when possible and I love we can do that here. The food….just beyond any expectations I could ever imagine. Being from a small area surrounded by water, fresh seafood is nothing new to me but this food is just impeccable. I have never been a fan of coleslaw or even tried a grit cake and I love both here. The best scallops I’ve ever eaten! After dinner we always take a little break by the water to clear my mind and soul and this is the greatest spot to do so.I will come back to Charleston any chance I get just to show my family and friends this spot!!Don’t change a thing folks, you’re doing every single thing perfect!

Okay, went there because it was on "Outer Banks" and not supposed to be tourist. It was great service, very regional seafood, and very touristy. My only comment on the food was it was way too much fried, like very fried and breaded to me . If you like that than it's for you. Not so much for me. I'd pass, but it's a matter of taste.

Had a great time here for my wife's birthday. It's not super fancy and it's authentic for local seafood without the prétention of many places in the Shem. They don't take reservations but it wasn't a problem for us coming early on a Saturday night. We shared everything with our friends and while we didn't love all of the food, it was still pretty good with a few items being excellent and more than met expectations. Typically we don't love fried seafood and most of what they do here is fried, or breaded, with a few items being grilled, but for things like oyster or scallops, you have to get them fried. The waitress was right in promising us that the breadedness here is lighter and flakier and a much better balance than some other places. We shared a seafood platter, which was a nice way to try a little bit of everything. My favorite was the fish (flounder) and the scallops. We shared each of the sides - boiled peanuts, lima beans cooked in some sort of meaty goodness, and fried green tomato's. We also shared the very peppery but good clam chowder and extremely rich she crab soup. The key lime pie was also super rich with an almost too much of a punch of sour for me but it was still tasty. I liked the banana cream pie more and if you have a sweet tooth you probably will too. We topped it all off with a few beers. Price wise it seems very fair here and less than some comparable seafood restaurants. Others have mentioned the courteous staff and ambiance, with which I have to agree. Service was also speedy. Being on the water and being able to step out to the small shipyard viewing space and the space inside with the covered patio make it with any imperfections here. Finally, we did not have kids in tow, but if you do, I like that they can draw on the paper tablecloths or run around outside as I saw others doing on our visit.

Food was delicious with right amount of breading Service was great despite a packed house and 30 minute wait to be seated. This is a no frills neighborhood restaurant with fresh, local seafood. I asked the waitress if the name of the place was from a boat wreck or a wrecked relationship. She was happy to share the story of a shrimp trawler being run aground during Hurricane Hugo. Out of disaster comes some fine eating. Don't forget dessert. The key lime pie is to die for!

We were seated right next to the fireplace and it was so cozy! I had the she crab soup and fried oysters & my boyfriend had the seafood platter. It was a busy night, so the service reflected that, but it wasn't bad by any means. Our server made sure to let us know she'd be just another minute when it got busy.
