Barbie’s Baristas in Myrtle Beach is certainly a place you’ll remember. Whether or not you’ll want to is another story. When we walked in, it was hard to tell if we’d entered a coffee shop or a half-hearted Barbie dream house knockoff. But we figured, hey, let’s give it a shot.

Apparently, no one thought to staff the place because there was no one behind the counter. Instead, a woman was sitting in the corner with a baby. After a solid two minutes of waiting in silence, I casually said, “I wonder if anyone works here.” Turns out, the woman did—she owned the place, in fact. Good to know.

Then, in a surprising plot twist, she got up and left the shop. Door wide open, baby missing. I’m not entirely sure where the baby went, but she eventually returned to take our order, which she wrote down by hand. Perhaps the cash register was just for show?

It took her about 20 minutes to make our drinks, which consisted of an iced latte and an iced coffee with oat milk—simple enough, right? Not quite. These two drinks set us back almost $12, which would have been fine if they were good. Spoiler: they weren’t. The latte came with a bonus layer of granulated sugar sitting at the bottom (a choice, I suppose), and the iced coffee tasted like it had been strained through a sock.

Oh, and did I mention she left her breast milk on display with the “merchandise”? Which, by the way, consisted of some water bottles with stickers on them. Very high-end. Meanwhile, a parade of family members wandered in and out, chatting with her and grabbing things. Not awkward at all.

And as we waited for our coffee disasters, we heard the unmistakable sound of a blower, barking dogs, and people shouting. Turns out, the coffee shop is attached to a dog-washing business, separated by nothing more than plywood. Because nothing says “relaxing coffee experience” like the distant hum of a dog dryer.

In summary, if you’re looking for an overpriced cup of coffee, unexpected family visits, and a side of dog hair, Barbie’s Baristas is your place. For everyone else, Starbucks is just down the road.

Swoon worthy and adorable little coffee shop ran by two sisters in the Inlet. For all the reviews stating that they weren’t open during their posted hours - one of the owners just had a health issue. It’s not my place to go into her personal life, but please take this into account when reading these reviews. While I know it may seem inconvenient, remember that people have lives. Please don’t let this deter you from stopping by. They are back open in full swing.

The drinks are delicious and fun. They have done a great job creating an Instagrammable atmosphere for their customers. The baked goods are amazing also! Definitely worth a visit.

Hopefully this helps even out the 1 star reviews. Hope everything is okay, family comes first. Would like to try your coffee though :).

We drove 30 minutes twice to get coffee and they were closed. I’m guessing google has wrong hours or they just don’t work unless they want to.

Drinks online look amazing
I believe sometimes family owned businesses can have hiccups if they don’t have a Manager to run things when the owner can’t. My only recommendation is to call ahead before you come so you don’t waste an hour of your day driving.

Never opened. Tried to visit every Monday the past three weeks and they are never open. More upset children.

Parking: Lots of parking cause they aren't ever open.

As others have commented, we drove about 25 minutes to come to this coffee shop, and it was closed despite the hours being on the door. I assume it’s a small business and things can happen, so while we has two disappointed kids we still made the best of the trip to Murrels Inlet. Definitely call ahead the day you plan to come and make sure they’re open and don’t go by the google hours/hours posted on the door.

I had two very disappointed girls today. Despite them updating their business hours 5 weeks ago when we arrived this morning at 10am they weren't open. A nearby business told us they don't know the last time they saw them open. I wish they would have either updated their hours online OR put a note on tbe door.

I hate leaving bad reviews to small businesses but I'm writing this one in order to help other people. My friend and I were driving from Myrtle beach to Charleston Airport and really wanted to make a stop for coffee at this place on Monday May 6th. Their hours on Google said they were open 8.30-3.00.We arrived there at 1 pm but the sign on the door said closed. We waited for 15 minutes but nobody showed up. We tried to call but there was no answer either. I even made an attempt to look through the social media for any kind of updates but nothing. I wish the management took better care of updates regarding hours. If you are traveling and pressed for time, consider giving a call I guess.

Suggest changing hours. Just left after driving 30min and they were closed. A little upsetting. We got there at 2pm.
