Russell's is a relaxing and casual seafood restaurant with really good service and good food. They have seating inside and outside on the porch. If it's cold, they have a couple of space heaters they can turn on. Their happy hour specials are good: - We had a dozen oysters, and they were really good (8/10). - The hush puppies were really good, especially with the honey butter (8/10) - The calamari was just ok (4/10 overall). It was a little chewy with not much flavor. If it were more crispy, that would have helped. The three sauces were a little different too - not the cocktail sauce we are used to. For dinner we ordered: - The Peel and Eat Shrimp were good (7/10). They were cooked well and tasted fresh. - The Blackened Shrimp Gumbo looked really good, and the flavor was good, but it wasn't really gumbo. It was more of Spicy Shrimp Creole dish instead of gumbo. If it had been listed as creole and served over 2-3 cups of rice, it would have been really good. As a gumbo, it would be a 4/10 for me - too intense, and that's saying a lot for me because I like flavor and spice. As a shrimp creole, I would have given it an 8/10. Overall, I think Russell's is pretty good, but it could be really good with a few tweaks.

Sad when the iced water and the baked potato are the best thing in your meal. The batter was sweet. The waitress said the 'creek' shrimp was popcorn shrimp, but it was NOT. The hushpuppies were ultra sweet!!!! And overall, the food was terribly GREASY!!!

Nice local place for lunch or dinner. Gets really crowded in the summer but off season is a lot easier to get a table or seat at the bar. Menu is full of seafood and burgers. Grilled oysters are on the menu too. Full bar

I think I'll have to try this again. We are there in October and it was extremely busy - which could explain lack of attention. The food was not bad, but similar to other places in the inlet. We will give it another try before making a final decision on whether this will be on our "go to" list.

Yes yes yes! Finally found a delicious seafood spot where the locals go that doesn't break the bank or is swarming with tourists. This place rocks! The food is delicious, huge portions, competitive prices, awesome service, and a relaxed atmosphere. Our bartender, Cindy, was wonderful! Parking was fine for us but it probably packs out here. I also loved that it was a little out of the way as far as the hustle and bustle of MarshWalk traffic, it's about a mile past all that down the road. My parents and I came for happy hour on Wednesday evening. Happy Hour is 4-6. There's a limited number of options but still good deals, such as 1/2 price wine by the glass, $5 margaritas, $4 house liquor, $4 drafts. There's also Bang Bang Shrimp for $9, $1 raw oysters, calamari for $10, fried pickles for $6 and a few other things. My dad got the Bang Bang Shrimp and he loved it. The portion size was pretty decent for the price. My mom got the Creek Shrimp basket which was perfect! So much shrimp plus 2 sides for $16.99. The creek shrimp is smaller and sweeter than larger shrimp, which some may not like but we love it. The baked potato and slaw were fine, nothing to write home about but they were good enough. The tartar was pretty tasty, and the cocktail sauce was delightful! It has a nice spice to it. Mom also enjoyed her margarita. I ordered Grilled Oysters which aren't part of the happy hour specials but for a dozen they were $22.99 (market price right now, subject to change). I thought that was fair and they were large. So tasty! Just what I wanted. I also tried the Watermelon Crush, eh it was okay. The mix is a little sweet. Try the La Crema wine on their menu, it was great, and about $5 during happy hour. I almost forgot to mention the complimentary hush puppies! Oh man these are AMAZING! I'm not even a big hush puppy fan and could eat these every day. The breading is perfect and crispy, with amazing flavor. Can't wait to come back here. It's definitely part of our restaurant rotation now! Add it to yours, as well, you won't be disappointed!

Love the looks from the front door all the way inside. Old feel and decor makes you think you are a part of the history of the Marsh. When family visits it's a go to place for us. Never a bad meal

Fish n Chips were lightly breaded thick white cod fillets… perfectly seasoned and cooked. Combo basket of flounder and shrimp were perfect and tasty too! Thank you Lauren, our sweet server!

First trip back in over ten years. The BEST grouper here or Mexican Riviera Maya! We ordered it slightly blackened with the corn and green bean sides. Both were unique and delicious ? The calamari app was also some of the best anywhere, lightly breaded and fried, but fresh and not overdone, same for the grouper. Lauren was our server and so helpful, but not bothersome. Highly recommend this place!! Prices are very fair given the quality and service. Sorry, no pictures. We ate it all!!!

We never leave Myrtle Beach without a stop at Russell's in Murrell's Inlet. That's because we have never had a bad experience there. Without exception, the food (can only speak about the seafood since that is all we ever order,) is freshly made and prepared to perfection. The lunch menu, virtually a scaled down version of the dinner menu, is beyond reasonable, given the generous portions. Good beer on tap as well - what more could anyone want?

It's a nice little place but I guess we just ordered the wrong items. Wife had her favorite, the Oysters Rockefeller. Chewy oysters and likely cooked in a microwave not under a broiler. She says it was the worst OR she has ever had. I ordered the Parmesan Crab and Shrimp Dip. Don't worry, no sign of shrimp or crab here just a sauce with lots of salt if you are low on your sodium. We should have ordered the fish. Wine was good at $6/glass. Also beware of a credit card fee added to your bill.

Great service from Tracy, excellent food (especially the crab cakes and the blackened combo seafood platter) and a pet friendly patio. Wonderful!

We have gone to this restaurant for years and never been disappointed. We’ve always recommended it to our friends, however this visit was a disappointment. The service was EXCELLENT! We were well taken care of but the food was a disappointment. I got the blackened grouper, which has always been a favorite but it was a huge disappointment this time. No flavor what so ever and luke warm.

Our table ordered several appetizers, including steamed clams. While it was great that the clams came with bread to dip in the garlic butter sauce, the clams had SO much sand in them, it ruined it. Not only was the sand in the clams themselves, but there was literally 2-3 tablespoons of sand on the bottom of the serving dish. We showed the server, she said "sorry". We also had Manhatten clam chowder and she-crab soup. Both were meh. We had a fried scallop dinner and the scallops were under-done, although they were a nice size. We'd been looking forward to a great dinner, but we were all disappointed.
