Abuelo's Mexican Restaurant

Atmosphere is very nice, food and service were great.

It was amazing from the time we walked in to the time we left. Host was great, waitress was great and even had the manger on duty come by to check on us. Food was so delicious! Wish we had an Abuelo’s Mexican Restaurant where we live. My family and I will definitely be going back when we visit Myrtle Beach again.

Food is great, service not very fast, atmosphere amazing, Abuelo's has had news article's for getting in trouble with heath inspectors multiple times, It makes me weary about returning.

Went with a party of 6 and everyone but me got food. My order was never placed with the kitchen. It was cold as heck. That's one way to get the customer to leave. And to top it off, as we were leaving, we see they have a C rating on their door.

Abuelo’s Mexican Restaurant in Myrtle Beach has been a beloved tradition for my wife Amanda and me since we first discovered it back in 2005. After meeting her that same year, we often took day trips or weekend getaways from Wilmington, NC, to explore Myrtle Beach, and Abuelo’s quickly became our favorite spot. Back then, it was called “Abuelo’s Mexican Food Embassy,” and we were immediately hooked on everything—especially the unforgettable chips and salsa! It was love at first bite, and ever since, every Myrtle Beach trip includes a stop at Abuelo’s.

Over the years, the name may have changed to simply Abuelo’s Mexican Restaurant, but the delicious food, lively atmosphere, and warm hospitality remain the same. Every meal here takes me back to those early days when Amanda and I were young, in love, and discovering life together. Now, with three kids of our own, we’re thrilled to share this tradition with them, and they love it just as much as we do.

Abuelo’s is more than just a restaurant to us—it’s a place filled with memories and happiness. If you’re looking for incredible Mexican food with a side of nostalgia, Abuelo’s is a must-visit.

We came in with a party of 7 and no reservation. They worked hard to get us seated quickly and communicated with us about our expected wait time (ended up being less then 5 minutes). They sat us in Josh's area and made sure we had drinks very quickly. We had members of our party with food allergies and diet restrictions and Josh willing answered the qestions he could and then went and asked in the kitchen to find the answers he did not know! It was awesome to have a server and staff that was willing to address our concerns and not make us feel like we were being difficult. They then got all of our orders correct and the food was excellent! There was also no loud music to have to try and talk over. Everyone else in the restaurant seemed to be just as pleased with the services and food as we were. The portions were good and most of us had leftovers to take home. The salsa (they bring 3 kinds to your table) and chips were fresh and good and the green salsa with the lime in it was my favorite. The manager also came and checked on us and stayed to talk for a few minutes. We really felt like they were glad to have us and our business. We will definitely be back and recommend this place to anyone looking for some good food at a great price!

Dietary restrictions: We had one member of our party that has a dairy allergy, one with purple onion and cabbage allergies and they were very accommodating to both!
