Visited Big Mike's restaurant for their famous soul food in Myrtle Beach. You can't go wrong with good southern cooking and supporting small business at the same time. I loved their friend chicken, fried okras and delicious candy yams!

Big Mike's was a BIG disappointment!!! After a great long day at the beach we all were ready to chow down on some good seafood. Got Big Mike's and was seated and served by Renee. She was excellent but I can't say the same for the food. The ratings must be from people who aren't cooks or come from good cooks. Even the chicken tenders were bland, tender but bland.. I ordered the seafood platter and a side of mac and cheese it sucked. The seafood had no seasoning and the oysters were especially disappointing. We also tried the gumbo. I have NEVER had gumbo this bad. He even put fried oysters in there. The dough and the rice was a terrible combination. They put more rice in it than gumbo and frozen shrimp, more tomatoes than okra, NO crab or crawfish. Even if you can't find crawfish in the area atleast put in the crab!! It wasn't rich and savory just watery. All the hype for food was not worth out money or time. We would have been better off if we cooked it ourselves.

Shrimp boil was great. Chicken tender and fried shrimp meals were cold. Wrong sides were a common problem at all of the tables around us including ours. A sketchy person walked in to ask for money/bothering patrons and was quickly escorted to the door in a calm manner.

Loved - Chicken and Waffles (might be the best I've had - crispy chicken, delicious waffles, sweet syrup) Liked - Seafood basket (shrimp was the highlight) Hated - Lack of COVID-19 precautions (the two employees managing the takeout orders were not wearing masks, no social distancing with cramped indoor dining)

I stayed in Myrtle for a week and ate here every night. One night I came at 8:58 and they still took my order, the customer service is great, the food is addicting, the wait is worth it. That's all I can say. I'm very picky about food I didn't cook but I'd eat this every day for the rest of my life. I think sometimes the food is sop good they can't handle the phones

I was in town vacationing and looking for an alternative to the high priced and disappointing seafood restaurants. After reading the reviews on this place we thought We would give this place a try. When we arrived there was a line outside so we placed an order online in the car as suggested by other reviews and was given a 7:58 pm pick up time (6:50 pm when I ordered). We ordered a Big Mike Meal (1 meat, three veggies: Fried Chicken, collard, macaroni and cheese, green beans and hush puppies), a Lil Mike meal (1 meat and two veggies: Fish, collards and macaroni and cheese) and hush puppies, a burger with chips and a corn dog with chips. Since we had some time to kill we decided to go to Walmart and get some sodas and snacks for the kids. Nearing our pickup time we returned and parked across the street due to the limited parking. Once our delivery time arrived we drove across the street to get our food. After waiting outside in line several minutes my boyfriend decided to go in to speak someone and he was told they were behind and that it would be another 10-15 minutes before our order was ready. We waited the allotted time and finally got our order. Once we reached our hotel we were anxious to dive into our food. Now, let me first say that I am an unofficial food critic as well as a southern woman who cooks so, good food is a must for me. I have also grown up with a family of cooks and restaurant owner. Anyway, here are our honest thoughts... * Fried Chicken: Leg and Thigh, good. * Fish: Okay, some seasoning but I have had better. * Collards: Okay, but again I have had better. * Macaroni and Cheese: Decent but again, I have had better. * Greens Beans: Watery and bland. * Hush Puppies: I never got them. They gave us cornbread muffins instead. * Burger: okay, bread was soggy for some reason. * Corn Dog: okay. My PROs: Average food but budget friendly. My CONs: Long wait time.

I have been here several times and I have to say my previous visits were great but tonight was the worst. Nothing was hot although the wait was more than 30 minutes for the food. I'm sorry I take that back the peach cobbler was hot but that's it. So disappointed as I told people with me how good it is. I tried calling it in and no one answered either line. A little disappointed.

Honestly, I'm not sure on what's going on with most of these reviews. You guys know you're lying when it comes to this restaurant. I'm going to leave it there and be nice. All I will add is they need to use fresh ingredients - Quality is KEY!

Not a lot to look at on the outside but don't let that dissuade you. This place is LEGIT. Southern soul food at its finest. I just had the best green beans of my life. I'll spend way too much time trying to figure out how to make them myself at home. The ribs were fall off the bone tender in a sweet and smoky sauce. We also got a cheesesteak that had a perfect amount of char. I love locally owned and operated places like this. Big Mike's lived up to the Yelp hype. Edit- I forgot we got beignets on the way out. I just had one. Oh...my...God.

All the flavors were on point, perfect for seafood takeout without breaking the bank and turned out to be very impressive! My friends and I got the seafood platter with collard greens, I'm telling you every single thing I ordered was just so delicious and flavorful and perfect. Highly recommend giving this place a try! Thank you for a great dinner!
