A very nice alternative to the all you can eat buffets that are everywhere at Myrtle Beach. I got the beer battered fish and chips. My friend got the clam strip platter. Both were very generous portions. The clam strips were very good. The fish was fried a few minutes longer than I'd like. The crust was crispy but rather dark. The fish inside was very good, so I guess my complaint was mostly esthetic and not of taste.
My husband and I had been going to Mr. Fish since it was located in the nearby strip mall. We went in for lunch this afternoon it was a late lunch. We came out spending more money than we should have. $45 for a plate of fish-and-chips and fried shrimp. And the waiter had the audacity to charge me for the boom boom sauce! 50 cents for something that was less than an ounce. The bake potato out ordered came out 15 minutes after my food! By then I was no longer hungry. The waiter also did not check on us and my husband ran out of tea. Instead of saying yes sir or no sir, The waiter said yeah man... I brought this to the attention of the manager. It was like talking to a post It has become a tourist trap. Don't waste your time nor money.
Another place that was recommended. Had the fish tacos which where boom boom shrimp tacos. Kids had the shimp which that likes as well.
My family and I absolutely loved this restaurant. They have everything you can think of pertaining to seafood. They also have American food for people and kids who don't like seafood. Plus, it's a all you can eat buffet. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone.
Went back tonight and it was as good as the prior night. I thought the crab mac and cheese was #1 until I had the shrimp and grits, amazing. The crab balls are great, boom boom sprimp good too. I highly recommend if you like southern seafood. Plus, Mr Fish was there!
We just had party of 14! Yes they seated us right away but the food came out entirely too fast for it to not have been precooked and it was just awful on our end of the table! Server was alright but just seemed he knew he was already goin to get a nice tip! Definitely not worth the price!
The food and the service were exceptional. Keith, our waiter, was very knowledgeable about the sushi offerings and explained how they use fresh seafood from their own fish market for the sushi. Very relaxed and welcoming atmosphere. Thanks for a great evening!
Most definitely the best cooked seafood ever!!!!! I had the flounder and shrimp fried, but the people next to me had the fried haddock....my lord so much food the two pieces covered the entire plate!!I could not finish my meal can't wait to go back and try the haddock!!! Nice clean and the staff are so friendly and fast, I have eaten at the market side but this was the first time I had been to the restaurant
We had a party of 15 and they seated us right away. Staff was friendly and helpful. We got our food in a timely fashion. There was no confusion with the checks. The food was great.
3.7 stars for this place. For starters, the Hushpuppies were great. So good in fact, that it sets you up for disappointment; every dish thereafter didn't quite live up to our expectations. It was hit or miss. The raw oysters were not as fresh as I'd like, but they were acceptable. Prince Edward Island Mussels were very good. Seafood tacos were OK. Shrimp & Grits were good, just a little salty. I would NOT RECOMMEND the mac & cheese dish; very watery & pasta was overcooked.
Our waiter was funny and attentive. The crab balls and crab Mac and cheese were amazing. The sushi was so fresh! Wonderful place to get fresh fish and a relaxed environment
Beware of the 4-5 star rating. I would not recommend this restaurant. I had a combination seafood platter that tasted like they cooked it when they first opened. I'm going to blame it on the fact that it was off season. The food did not taste fresh. My baked potato was not done. My friend's she crab soup tasted like they needed to cook it some more. Nothing was hot. I don't normally give bad ratings, but the food was not good.
Mr Fish was a pleasant experience. I'm not much of a buffet type person so that led us to Mr Fish. The staff was very welcoming, Our waiter was great, he made sure our needs were taken care of. To start off they bring out these hush puppies with honey butter, they are addictive. They have your typical fried dishes as well as some daily specials. My wife had the shrimp and grits and I decided to try one of the specials, the fried whole small flounder with fried shrimp, coleslaw and a baked potato. The flounder was flaky and the batter was light and crisp. It had a little more seasoning than I would have liked but overall it was good. The shrimp was good as well. My wife's shrimp and grits were a solid choice as well, more than she could eat. They also offer a free peach cobbler to Yelp members when you check in, a definite bonus, the cobbler and vanilla ice cream was very good.
When you come to Myrtle Beach make this one of your first restaurant stops.....or buy your "catch " and take it back to your kitchen !
Pricey, but tasty. I had crab cakes. The fish tacos looked good too. Tiny hush puppies were really good. Our server was super even though we arrived about 30 minutes before closing. Our party of 6 was sat immediately. Food came out quickly and as ordered.
Great costumer service!! The food was very filling and hushpuppies were perfect although they were tiny!!
I've found it! I've been looking for good fish over my last three trips to Myrtle Beach with no success...until today! Mr. Fish is it! The flounder was SO crispy with such nice flavor, crunchy fries, nice coleslaw (not the absolute best I've ever had, but good, and not bad enough to affect my rating). This is what I mean when I say I want fried fish! Now, $21, it's not the cheapest on the block, but it seems to be par for the course. At least I paid $21 and was satisfied, AND left with two pieces of fish, hushpuppies, and slaw for tomorrow. So, that would actually be two meals for $21, which is a win, in my book! Oh, and really friendly service all around.
Just ate there, had the fish and chips and it was tasteless. I couldn't even eat it. The tastiest thing I ate was the coleslaw. My friend had the special stuffed flounder and she left it as well. Hush puppies tasted like card board. Waitress was very nice. Won't be going back. Gave it 2stars only for the staff not the food.
Meh sushi is only ok, none of the food was amazing but the service was good. I don't think I'd go back unless they did a major overhaul of the menu.
We loved it! Large selection of fresh seafood at great prices. Helpful and friendly staff ... our server, Lisa, made us feel right at home! Will definitely return here.
Servers were extremely nice and the hushpuppies were delicious. They had a nice crunch to it and it was just the right size. They honey whipped butter was melting in my mouth. I got the fried shrimp and blackened fish which was very good. The place also had a kids meal which was good for the kids. I enjoyed this place but I definitely liked the other restaurants in the area better.
We look forward to coming to Mr. Fish every year on vacation. Tonight our food came about an hour after we placed our orders. After about 45 minutes of waiting, a member of our party got up to ask our waiter where our food was. Before he could answer, another man (bartender? manager?) said "don't worry, your food will be right out, if thats what you were asking about. Good things are coming your way." There was absolutely no apology, no explanation, and no offer to try and make right having to wait that long. When the food arrived, only the baked potatoes were hot. A professional manager would have been sure to let the table know if there was something going on in the kitchen that was causing a slow down and would apologize to the table for the wait. An exceptional manager would offer to comp one of the meals. Our waiter and waitress were very kind and most of the food had a good flavor but this was the worst service we've ever had and, moreover, it was handled horribly.
Seated immediately with wait staff and drinks arriving quickly. Lisa was great! Kept our drinks full and got the order correct. Oysters were dry and overcooked, flounder was flaky and delicious. I had sides of baked potato and collards. Potato was not done and was too cold to melt butter. Collards tasted like they were out of a can. Ceasar salad was good quality but the added fried chicken was substandard.
Let me begin with this place has excellent service from the time you walk in and the hostess greets and seats you to meeting the wait staff. We had two waitresses, Jess and Doris who were wonderful and very accommodating. I ordered a Bahama Mama, but it was way too strong. I'm use to this drink being sweet and it wasn't. My husband who thinks I can be a bit on the dramatic side took a sip and had to agree with me. Jess was willing to have it made again, but I decided against it. Jess bought a basket of hush puppies which tasted sweet and reminded you of funnel cake. They were warm and tasty They come with a whipped honey butter, but none was needed. I decided to order the Grouper special which came on top of a bed of pasta shrimp & mixed vegetables in a Marsala sauce. The highlights of this dish was its super star the Grouper. It was fresh, flaky and cooked and seasoned to perfection. When I tasted the pasta it was super dry I requested more sauce and they were very accommodating making me more as this is a made to order dish. What bought this dish down was the Marsala sauce. I normally love Marsala, but this sauce was super sweet. I'm not accustomed to the sweet factor. I ended up eating the veggies out of the pasta and the shrimp . I couldn't eat another bite of the pasta . Would I come back to this restaurant Definitely! The fish was some of the freshest I've had in a while. My husband ordered the blackened flounder and throughly enjoyed it and he's very hard to please. The portions are also excellent. Just a side note, they have a Fish market right next door. Get some fish to take home or maybe some crabs to take or eat in.
A fun place to visit and the fish and sushi a fantastic. I had a soft shell crab tower with fried green tomatoes. It was great. My daughter got a platter and we couldn't finish all of the good food. If you're looking for a nice simple place to have good seafood this is your place.
Quite possibly the best shrimp and crab dip I've ever tasted. The shrimp were seasoned to perfection, and did not have the peel-off "breading" I so commonly see on shrimp these days. You can tell they dip the shrimp directly into the flour. The crab dip was a delightful mix of cheese and spices, and they gave a huge portion for my wife and I to split. We split an entree and the appetizer, paying a mere 42 bucks for the final total, and we were both stuffed.
I ordered Tempura Vegetables
So sad, we always look forward to eating here every year while on vacation until this year. Ordered sword fish that was one of the specials of the night and for whatever reason the sauce for it was never prepared for the dish, then after a few bites discovered the fish was not cooked thoroughly. I will say our waitress was great and very apologetic, manager said it was sushi grade and would cook it more, (he was not apologetic and that was not happening)! They did replace with another dish that was good and didn't charge the bill but still disappointed. The people at the table next to us said there soup came to the table cold, not sure if we'll go back next year while on vacation.
Waitress was lovely, friendly and nice. Food and presentation were like a cafeteria but definitely not cafeteria prices. My wife's oysters looked like monkey brains. The wasabi was glowing like neon Nickelodeon slime. TV dinner fish and chips would be better, if you want real seafood this isn't the place. Way over priced.
We have been regular vacation returners because we have always enjoyed the food and the service. We ate here last night and I must say it was a major let down this trip. Iâ??m only reviewing because I want the establishment to keep there good rating...the wait staff was great and very accommodating but I ordered the scallop/ bacon app on top of grits and the scallops were so rubbery I couldnâ??t even chew them enough to swallow without choking. At best they had to be left over and microwaved as
Ask for what's fresh if you're a sushi fan. You won't believe the way they treat the rice. Cucumber infused vinegar with this one. Bartenders are friendly. I found my moment of zen. True artists. I wish they were in my neighborhood. Ask for recommendations. They nailed it.
I came here during my vacation to myrtle beach because it had hella reviews and decent amount of stars. Tyler was my server and he was very patient. Best service in SC!!! (I'm from vegas and use to 5 star service but definitely did not find that too often here) Food was okay... the hush puppies they bring before the food were very good and the free peach cobbler was good too. Definitely come here for happy hour from 4-7...this was the mistake we made and missed happy hour
This was my favorite seafood for the price. The crab was really good, the oysters were on point, the shrimp was delicious. The free hush puppies with the honey butter were really good too. I would have them as an app even if they weren't included. The ambience is very laid back so don't expect upscale dining but it works for this kind of place. I would definitely recommend this place and will go back next time in in Myrtle Beach
Great place to have fresh seafood. Did not leave hungry Our group of 10 tried a variety, fried flounder, haddock, mahi, salmon, crab balls, chicken tenders, and even sushi. The only complaint I heard from the table was there was no yum yum sauce for the sushi and everyone hated the paper straws. The food was fantastic! We will be back next trip to Myrtle Beach
Casual atmosphere and decent pricing. The food was ok, nothing spectacular. Other meals looked great. We may just not have gotten the right choices. The menu offered several options including sushi, seafood, taco and salads. We weren't a fan of the crab mac and cheese which had a smoky flavor probably because of the bacon. The blackened shrimp taco was ok. It had a mix of sautéed onions and peppers which wasn't my favorite option. Overall the restaurant was ok.
It hurts me to write this review as this was our favorite restaurant for years but sad to say the quality has declined. I can give three stars for the grilled salmon with Lisa Sauce. My "medium" salmon was slightly undercooked. Prices have gone up and food quality has gone down. The soft shell crab and fried green tomato tower had waaaaay too much breading and over fried. The grilled shrimp were small and a little tough. The side choices here have always been subpar but the seafood always compensated before. We hope they bounce back to the quality of before.
This place was overall kinda "meh". Not bad but not great either. We went with a large group and really loved the service. Our server was attentive and kind. However the food was kind of a hit or miss. I liked the sushi and that's kind of it. Some of our family members got fish and it was all very very under seasoned. Had to take off major points for this one. Kind of annoying to have to pay up for fresh fish only for it to taste like nothing. If I could have gone back in time, I probably would have skipped this place.
Update. Quality has taken a nose dive. Prices went up. Had boom boom shrimp and doesn't compare to previous years - small plate. Hush puppies - ate two and regret it, tasted like grease. The only saving grace for the three stars is the Shrimp and Grits - very good and an award winner. Hope the rest of the menu improves back to the original standards in previous years.
This place is always packed. We used to go to their old location which was smaller than their fancy new(er) digs. We arrived on a Friday evening. The place was a mob house but we were seated pretty quickly. Our server came after about 5-10 minutes apologizing for the delay. He said he had to wrestle a lobster. That's what they pay him $2.75 an hour for. â? We placed our drink orders and he brought them and some delicious hush puppies back to the table. I asked for a cup with ice for my iced tea and he brought it right back. Not only that, but the rest of dinner he kept my tea and ice replenished. I ordered the stuffed flounder special, my husband ordered sushi and my daughter had buttered noodles. My husband enjoyed his sushi. (Note the sushi kitchen and the other kitchen aren't timed together so if someone in your group orders sushi don't expect your meals to be served at the same time - as we learned.) My daughter wasn't thrilled with her buttered noodles - but - they're buttered noodles. If they aren't over cooked and have butter - you're good to go. The stuffing of the stuffed flounder was good. I just wasn't expecting to see the fish. With the tail. And stuff. Nope nope nope. Sure wasn't. I grew up at the beach in NJ and I don't ever remember my founder being served with the tail!!! I ate the stuffing part (which had crab in it) but couldn't bring myself to eat the flounder. My husband said the flounder was good. We'll take his word for it. All in all good meal! We'll be back again Mr Fish!
What a great experience. From crab cakes to shrimp and grits to sushi everything was excellent! But to top it off a busy Thursday night the service was spot on. Our waiter was excellent I'm ticked I can't remember his name!
