I have celiac and found it a bit challenging to eat here safely. There are a few items that could be considered gluten free, but the menu doesn’t indicate them clearly and there are no separate prep areas. When I asked the server about gluten free options, they didn’t seem familiar with what I meant, so I decided to stick with the sancocho. Unfortunately, it was mediocre and only had potatoes and plantain.
The atmosphere was the highlight for me. The place was very clean, the music was great, and it had a fun Punta Cana vibe. The food overall, though, was the most basic Dominican food I’ve had either in the States or in the Dominican Republic. Portions were on the smaller side, and when my husband asked for extra of the mayo and ketchup mixture, they said there would be an additional charge. We also tried the empanadas and mofongo with shrimp. They were flavorful, but not quite what I’d expect from traditional Dominican recipes.

Food was delicious but we had to wait over an hour for our take out order. Staff could be a little more flexible and accommodating with diet restrictions.

The place was packed when we got there so we knew it was going to a bit of a wait but that’s understandable. My friend ordered a piña colada which it was EXCELLENT! I ordered a watermelon mojito unfortunately mine was not. I asked if they would give me a coke instead thinking they wouldn’t charge me for the mojito since I literally just took a sip of it. But when we got the bill they didn’t take it off and I was also charged for the coke the girl had to ask her manager and they took the mojito off. Finally there was only a few tables left so I thought they would come to the table ask if we needed anything, check on us, take away the dirty plates and glasses but they never did they never gave us plates or silverware until I asked. They definitely need more staff. The food was very good but the staff was lacking unfortunately and we had to wait a LONG time for our food to come out.

Food was very underwhelming. Not seasoned well at all. I definitely expected much more developed flavor profile. The service was acceptable but nothing impressive. Meals came out one at a time and first person was done eating before the last meal came out and appetizers came out after entrees. Biggest issue is the atmosphere. Tables are crammed together in a very small space. Acoustics are terrible and creates a very loud setting without requiring a lot of sound to do so. Just walking through the door was an instant sensory overload. Tables were amateurish made. But the overall construction was fairly nice, problem was the finish, im guessing a simple polyurethane, was not well done and made the table very sticky. Overall was a completely unsatisfactory experience but even if under seasoned food is what youre after id definitely recommend getting takeout

**“I had the absolute worst experience at Punta Cana Bar & Grill, and I would never recommend this place to anyone. From the moment I walked in, the atmosphere felt unwelcoming and poorly maintained. The tables were sticky, the floor looked dirty, and the overall environment gave me a bad impression before I even ordered.
The food was a complete disaster. It was bland, overcooked, and tasted like it had been sitting around for hours. Nothing was fresh, and the portions were small for the price they charge. To make matters worse, the presentation was sloppy—honestly, I’ve had better meals at fast food restaurants.
The service was just as bad, if not worse. The staff seemed uninterested in doing their job, moving slowly and acting like serving customers was an inconvenience. It took forever to get our drinks, and when the food finally arrived, it wasn’t even what we ordered. When we tried to address it, the waiter was dismissive and rude, offering no apology or solution.
To top it all off, the music was way too loud, making it impossible to have a normal conversation, and the smell coming from the kitchen was unpleasant.
Overall, this place was a waste of time and money. Poor service, terrible food, and zero professionalism. If you value your money and your stomach, stay far away from Punta Cana Bar & Grill.”**

This place sucks !!! I came here because I heard it had good reviews. I showed up the staff was rude unorganized and did not treat us with respect.! The girl working behind the bar definitely deserves to be working there and making minimum wage because she sucks!! I would not recommend this place to friends or family!

waiting 1 HOUR it would be freshly made, I left the soup entirely.
1 waitress for like 20 tables.
Nasty food and worst service ever. I should have listened to the other reviews.
the waitress took 20 minutes to bring the menu
When the food arrives we didn’t have any utensils, the food arrived an hour later, the photo I uploaded proves it.
I will never return, bad service, bad management, food taste old.
I never give bad reviews this is my first.
First and last, never again.

While I had high hopes for this restaurant, unfortunately, the food did not meet expectations.
I ordered the salmon, which was really dry. My boyfriend’s sister had the red snapper, which also lacked moisture and was noticeably under-seasoned. My boyfriend ordered the mofongo, and while the flavor was decent, the portion size was disappointingly small given the high price point. Additionally, several fried items, including the chicharrón, seemed to have been cooked in old oil, which affected both taste and texture.
On a positive note, the staff was friendly and the ambiance of the restaurant was warm and inviting. However, the overall dining experience was let down by the food quality and value.
As someone with a Dominican background who is familiar with and cooks these traditional dishes regularly, I believe there is room for improvement. I would suggest that the restaurant consider hiring additional kitchen staff and wait staff to better support food quality.

Sorry, but I have to change my review. I just went back expecting the same or better service, but no, it wasn't the same, and was overpriced. Hope for a better experience next time.

2 years ago: Muy rica y deliciosa comida la recomiendo el 100% , el servicio increible muy hamables el ambiente muy tranquilo , se los recomiebdo
Now: Owners changed, and service is bad, bad food, too expensive. There are no refills, not even on WATER. The waitress only came twice, once to give our drinks, and to give our food. Overall would not come.

Bad food, would not recommend. my shrimps came with to much sauce and the only thing we got back was “sorry ill let the kitchen know next time” Overpriced, bad service, and expensive. Few years back everything was super good and now it’s bad. Do not come, I left my food there of how horrible it was.

The food shrimp was covered in pizza sauce. It took almost 20 minutes for our food to come and 15 minutes for our drinks to come. We came about few years back and it was super good, the owner changed and the whole restaurant went downhill. BE AWARE no refills on the everything. Even on WATER. Everything was more expensive than a few years back. Overall Bad service, food nasty and expensive. Do not recommend.
