Our family had the best experience at The Grumpy Monk at Broadway on the Beach! Dawson was excellent - we came back again two days later and requested his section…. He greeted us at our table with the same drinks we had the previous time. Wow. Now that is serving your customer! The food did not disappoint either. Fried pickle chips and the burgers and wings were amazing. We will definitely be back a third time!

No longer has an impossible burger and uses the same label for vegan and vegetarian.

The food was amazing. I had the southern tradition sandwich. It’s a buttermilk fired chicken breast between two waffles and drizzled with honey pecan syrup. A must stop!

Confused about this listing and maybe there are two restaurants by this name? Either way, I went to this restaurant today and there were no mushroom tacos or impossible burger on the menu. There was a black bean burger and that is what I ordered. My friend got the garden of life wrap. We both got fries. My burger and fries were just OK. She enjoyed her wrap. If I go back I would get the wrap instead But I wasn’t really that impressed to seek this place out. Other vegan options were just salads or they have a sushi roll that is vegan.

We had a fantastic time at The Grumpy Monk! The wings were crispy and flavorful, the burger was juicy and cooked perfectly, and the wrap was fresh and delicious. Great beer selection, too! Our server, Emilie, was amazing—super friendly, attentive, and made the whole experience even better. Can’t wait to come back on our next trip through town!!!

Food was worth the happy hour prices. Loved the Spinich dip app. It was very loud in there. Would go again

Food was so good! Would get take out. However, we had anna as our bartender and she was very miserable. Would not recommend her.

Good service, great beer selection. Terribly mediocre food. Every review talking about burgers being dry is ACCURATE. I got a monk burger cooked medium and it came out medium, yet still insanely dry. This place also gets enough business to not be serving brown wilted lettuce on the burger. Chips were also stale. Live music was a nice touch to the atmosphere.

My friends and I came for dinner after a conference on the recommendation of a local. The atmosphere was fun, lively and so much to look at. We each tried something different, from the fried yum yum shrimp, brussel sprouts, fried fish & shrimp, sandwiches and burgers. All of us enjoyed our meals (except for the tots, they were kinda crispy but gummy in the center). Our waitress was very grumpy and seemed to be having a bad day… made it a bit awkward and hard to clarify for service but the food was fantastic. There was a live band and it wasn’t so loud it was perfect volume for us to enjoy the music and conversation. Strange side note: the frosted glass squares that cover the door of the bathroom stalls are not private. Easy to see the person inside sitting and scrolling on their phone. Makes it a bit uncomfortable if you have to go. If you’re in the area you should definitely give this place a try.

Vegetarian options: The brussel sprouts were outstanding!!

Kid-friendliness: It’s a loud vibrant place that definitely caters to children.

Wheelchair accessibility: Easy in and out of the restaurant, room to maneuver around the dining area and a clearly labeled stall in the restroom.

Sushi and smoked wings are good. However, the burgers are garbage. The beef patty is a frozen pre-formed crunchy mess that’s charred to give it some sort of flavor. The burger bun is too thick for the frozen patty and is terribly dry. Over all, it’s average bar food and just as mediocre as most restaurants in Myrtle Beach.

Disappointed, it says they close at 11pm it's not even 10:30 yet, and doors are locked.
