The wait staff there is always very good.
Food was worth the happy hour prices. Loved the Spinich dip app. It was very loud in there. Would go again

Food was so good! Would get take out. However, we had anna as our bartender and she was very miserable. Would not recommend her.
Such a unique menu. Something for everyone from sushi to burgers.

Good service, great beer selection. Terribly mediocre food. Every review talking about burgers being dry is ACCURATE. I got a monk burger cooked medium and it came out medium, yet still insanely dry. This place also gets enough business to not be serving brown wilted lettuce on the burger. Chips were also stale. Live music was a nice touch to the atmosphere.

My friends and I came for dinner after a conference on the recommendation of a local. The atmosphere was fun, lively and so much to look at. We each tried something different, from the fried yum yum shrimp, brussel sprouts, fried fish & shrimp, sandwiches and burgers. All of us enjoyed our meals (except for the tots, they were kinda crispy but gummy in the center). Our waitress was very grumpy and seemed to be having a bad day… made it a bit awkward and hard to clarify for service but the food was fantastic. There was a live band and it wasn’t so loud it was perfect volume for us to enjoy the music and conversation. Strange side note: the frosted glass squares that cover the door of the bathroom stalls are not private. Easy to see the person inside sitting and scrolling on their phone. Makes it a bit uncomfortable if you have to go. If you’re in the area you should definitely give this place a try.
Vegetarian options: The brussel sprouts were outstanding!!
Kid-friendliness: It’s a loud vibrant place that definitely caters to children.
Wheelchair accessibility: Easy in and out of the restaurant, room to maneuver around the dining area and a clearly labeled stall in the restroom.

Sushi and smoked wings are good. However, the burgers are garbage. The beef patty is a frozen pre-formed crunchy mess that’s charred to give it some sort of flavor. The burger bun is too thick for the frozen patty and is terribly dry. Over all, it’s average bar food and just as mediocre as most restaurants in Myrtle Beach.
Disappointed, it says they close at 11pm it's not even 10:30 yet, and doors are locked.

Sat for almost a half hour and no one even acknowledged our presence. No water, sorry we’re busy or anything. You lost a customer.
The food's really gone down hill, though the atmosphere is still great! They're food used to be fantastic. They also used to have plenty of vegan options, but now they're sparce: some sides, the black bean burger minus the aioli, and the veggie role. They had the worst tots I've ever had. Weren't that hot and honestly tasted stale. They were also too hard to stick a fork in them without them shattering. My parents who aren't vegan and got the wings, cheese steak, and Mac and cheese also weren't impressed with the food. Service was only ok. No complaints, but a noticeable lack of attention to detail. Definitely won't be back.
Server took about 5 mins to greet me. I ordered some happy hour specials. California roll came out quickly. I also ordered a side salad, 20 minutes passed and I still did not get the salad, server said she wasn’t sure what was taking so long, but did not say she was going to check on it or anything. Also ordered chicken fingers when I realized I still wouldn’t be getting my salad any time soon. After 10 more minutes, and tables around me that sat after I ordered my salad getting their food before I got anything. I asked for everything to go because I was tired of waiting and that would get her to physically go check on my food. No discount, no manager contact, absolutely nothing. First time here and I was very disappointed. Will not be coming back to this location.

Hannah was a great server. She was cheerful and engaged with my little one. Food was okay, could be better. Atmosphere was relaxing and cozy.

My recent visit to Grumpy Monks in Carolina Forest was disappointingly below standards, especially given my usually positive experiences here. The main issue was the service, which was particularly frustrating since the restaurant was notably empty, as shown in my photos. Despite the low customer volume, our table was left cluttered with used plates and empty glasses for most of our visit. Both our server and a manager were visibly present in the dining area but seemed to overlook basic table maintenance.
While I understand restaurants can have off days, the lack of attention to basic service, especially during a quiet period, significantly impacted our dining experience. Previous visits have been much better, which makes this experience stand out even more.
I hope this was just an unusual occurrence and that the restaurant will return to its usual service standards. I would be willing to give them another chance based on past positive experiences, but this visit definitely needed improvement.
