Fun Hibachi on the Water but Go Somewhere Else for Sushi
Yamato at Broadway at the Beach immediately drew us in with its lively entrance, fun décor, and great location on the water. From the moment we walked in, the hostesses were helpful in explaining the dining options and quickly sat us without a reservation. The views overlooking the boats and shops added a nice touch, and I appreciated how spacious and well laid out the dining room felt. Even the baby high chair was impressively clean, something I rarely ever see.
The atmosphere was the highlight, but the food left me a little underwhelmed aside from the delicious starting soup, heavy on the onion but possibly my favorite dish. Surprisingly, I had to add salt to my hibachi, which is not what I expected. The fried rice and vegetables were cooked so quickly they lost their depth of flavor.. soggy veggies and bland rice meant I was relying on yum yum sauce to save the dish. On the bright side, the spicy salad dressing was excellent. The server also forgot my wife’s shrimp so he had to cook more. It looked a little on the light side as well.
The biggest disappointment was the sushi. It lacked flavor and fell apart as soon as I picked it up with chopsticks, as if it had been rushed together. That took away from the experience more than anything else. At least the meal ended on a refreshing note with a scoop of sherbet, and the staff throughout were friendly, attentive, and truly made an effort to give great service.
Overall, Yamato is worth it if you’re after the hibachi experience and a fun setting on the water. Just skip the sushi. I won’t be back but give it a try!

Yesterday we went to this restaurant and forgot sunglasses on the table we realized that after we left restaurant and immediately came back 1-2min after,our server she said she gave to bartender and he said he gave it to a man who came to him and said it's his glasses. What? First why she gave it to bartender? How another man knew there is sunglasses there? It's been couple minutes after we came back. Manager was just saying no sunglasses other man took it.thats it. Yes,I understand our fault we forgot, but the story itself a little weird, right? Was super good 😊 we made reservations just in case it was a long wait and was able to get seated right away. Food was amazing great portion sizes. My son had the kids chicken looking at his size plate you would think it was the adult size. So he definitely finished the rest for lunch the next day.

I had reserved seats for 6:30. My friend was running late but the hostess was wonderful and since they were not overly busy she was able to hold our reservations.
Our waiter was quick and efficient. Our chief was very skilled and the show was wonderful. He made jokes and kept us laughing.
Honestly, the only thing I would change is the speed. I felt kinda rushed to order and eat. Maybe give us 10 minutes to sip on the soup and maybe another ten to eat the salad. But the food was wonderful and Even when i warmed up my leftovers, they were delicious.
Definitely recommend this place and will be returning.

Oh. My. Gosh. Go. Just go. What a wonderful night. The food was beyond incredible. We laughed and were all entertained until our main meal was served and then NO ONE was talking. I had the NY strip and shrimp my guest the chicken. More rice than we could eat. Chef was talented and a comedian. Server was polite and must have been part psychic as he attended to our needs. Didn't take pics as someone else young children were in our line of vision. Large flames at the beginning frightened some of them. Walked around the other shops and listened to the band to walk off the dumplings.
