One way to know if a business is truly committed to the movement is to check their coffee and milks. I was surprised to find that for a coffee ranging between $4:95 & $6:95 they serve a cheap Conventional coffee. As well as non-dairy milks. Note to reader, Conventional Oat & almond milks are very high in glyphosate. We also had salmon. Also, While marketed that salmon is wild caught, the color and texture looked and felt more farm. Typically line caught is much more orange and firm, than pink and fatty. A beautiful idea, but again questionable as to the commitment to the ethos and reasons to eat and support organic farms, “health is wealth”.

My visit to zardin was great. The food was very tasty and centered around being a healthy meal. Be wary it is not cheap but I’m fine with that for great ingredients, which this restaurant uses. The place has a relaxed vibe and the employees are very nice. There is a “service charge” which felt like a forced tip. I felt this to be very odd when I’m carrying out. Then they ask you if you’d like to add a tip on top of the “service charge.” Overall, I felt the checkout process to be very misleading for the customer, hence the 3 stars rating. My recommendation is for the management to remove the service charge and advertise a higher price for the product. This provides the customer more transparency.

Saturday night my wife and I were looking for some quick but good eats as we were catching a movie in Market Common. We'd heard about Zardin and as we like to eat healthy, we figured we'd give it a try.
Atmosphere is good for what it is. The young lady who put together our order was pleasant and the salads we ordered looked good. Everything was fine right up until it was time to pay. Somehow two already overpriced salads at $15 or $17 a piece, with two waters turned into $50! That is rediculous! It's a salad and water! They add a service fee that IS NOT clearly spelled out, PLUS when you go to pay the screen asks you if you want to leave an additional tip. Are you kidding now two overpriced $50 salads become $60? These people working there aren't getting paid wait staff pay, working for tips, but they want an additional tip over and above the service fee that isn't clearly stated, regardess of what the management said in another review.
How about you pay your people better or hire better then I won't need to add an additional service fee to get good service and food and you take the tip option off the pay screen so I don't feel like I'm being guilted or bullied into it?
The salads were good but not $50 good. We will not be returning to Zardin as it's just way too expensive for our tastes and I don't like the "service fee" addition as well. It's sneaky in my opinion and tips are for exceptional service from bartenders and waitstaff, not for cooks and counter help, but over the last 15-20 years, everyone thinks they're entitled to one. But it won't be from me and it won't be here.

The food, service and atmosphere was great. I was unaware of the "12% service charge" until after I ordered. Didn't see that posted anywhere. Is that the norm here?
