This restaurant is not intended to be a quiet and dignified place for a quiet dinner, but rather fits the more festive and casual atmosphere of Park Circle. It was quite noisy in a strident way.
I had the Steak Mexicano with rice, and overall it was good so no major complaints in this. The chips and salsa were o.k. However, my wife, who is half Mexican and an aficionado of nachos, ordered classic nachos and unfortunately it was, to her, very bland. The queso was almost flavorless and milky, and the meat was largely unseasoned. Even the jalapenos supplied with a bland queso dip she ordered did not zing it up. We took home what she did not eat and used a microwave to melt some cheese slices and improved the flavor, but still the meat was bland.
Hopefully they will improve the quality of their ingredients as they have potential. Also, putting in noise dampening in the eating area is recommended (including felt on the bottom of the metal chairs which screeched on the floor).

I was a bit skeptical at first, but Azul Mexicano did not disappoint! We loved our dinner here. The margaritas were delicious. Tasted like real, fresh fruit in them! My favorite was the strawberry margarita. The portion of fajitas was huge. Enough to feed two! It was delicious and filling. I would have liked if they came with a few more tortillas because of how big the portion was, but that’s okay! The service was great and very attentive. Free chips and salsa as well— the sign of a great Mexican restaurant!

The place was beautiful, great location as well. I ordered three carnitas tacos and three chorizo tacos. Both were amazing. They were served with some avocado sauce? I asked for hot sauce and it was amazing too. The chip and salsa were delicious as well

Their rice is trash, like how can you not even make rice. I can make better at home! First Mexican restaurant I’ve been to in my life that couldn’t cook rice! However the margaritas were awesome! Come here to drink not eat!

I really enjoy this restaurant. They have a dedicated vegetarian section which is rare at Mexican restaurants in Charleston. Additionally, they're the only Mexican restaurant in Park Circle proper. However, every time I go, the water tastes like bleach. I'm pretty sure they clean the water glasses with bleach. It's not a good thing, and it tastes bad. I wish they would stop and just use dishwasher detergent as that does a sufficient job.

I would do negative stars if possible, the queso fundido was so awful, I’m sure the prisoners at Azkaban had better food than I was served tonight.
Having said that, the server was absolutely amazing. Always asked if we needed anything else. Also poured us a reasonably sized shot of tequila at the end of our bill. I wish we said something about the queso fundido. Salsa was pretty good. But now I’m worried about my flight home as I may have food poisoning or just really bad diarrhea.

We walked in at about 5pm on a Thursday and there was only one other table seated. Service was quick and professional. I love that they have a dedicated vegetarian menu with several vegan options. Complimentary chips and salsa were a nice touch that many restaurants are charging for nowadays. We also got a side of guac which tasted fresh. I ordered the veggie soup with rice which was exactly what I was needing on a chilly afternoon. It was a large bowl chock-full of veggies: broccoli, cauliflower, yellow and green squash, onion, mushrooms, green onion, diced red peppers, and carrots, plus chunks of avocado that melted in my mouth. The soup was hot with a nice clear broth, and the vegetables were tender but not mushy. There was also rice to make it a little heartier. Honestly, I wanted to know whose abuela was in the kitchen making that soup? It was so freaking delicious and comforting, I’ll need to try and make it at home since I probably won’t be back in Charleston. The place was filling up when we were leaving. Bathrooms were in the main part of the building lobby, right across from the door to enter Azul, and they were clean, spacious, and well maintained.
Dietary restrictions: Vegetarian and vegan options clearly marked.

I can appreciate its location and food and service. I cannot appreciate the overcrowding and noise level. Would rather opt to not go during prime times obviously. Shrimp tacos were delish!

Tex-Mex food at its finest. The lunch specials are great from steak/chicken fajitas to the fajita quesadilla, muy sabroso. Also, very good and honest people unlike other joints that nickel and dime you *coughlahaciendacough*. Left my wallet during lunch with over $100 cash and returned to find it safe and secure with everything intact. Mis respetos, señores y señoras, gracias!
