We had a GREAT time! This was our sixth trip to Basil, but our FIRST time to this location in North Charleston. We gotta tell you....our hearts were stolen. We were seated in less than 2 minutes. Our server Alexis was TOP TIER. The chef absolutely crushed it with my husband's baramundy fish, which is quietly picky about because it's never spicy enough. They accommodated my allergies, served us delicious food, and all in all were top notch. Our server Alexis had a group of 8 to serve right beside us, and she STILL was super attentive to us (and them), worked with a smile, and managed some friendly conversation.

100% returning to this location over Mt. Pleasant now.

Recently went to Basil and it may have been the worst experience we have had at a restaurant. Went during restaurant week because we wanted to try a new local restaurant in our community that we hadn't yet been to. I want To give credit and express my gratitude to what little staff seemed to be working; they worked extremely hard and the food was delicious. However, the systems and management gave them no chance to succeed. Starting at the front door, the poor hostess was using random post-it notes instead of a normal waitlist for dine in seating and just seating whoever showed up instead of working the list like is standard for a restaurant. Our server worked extremely hard but impossible to provide good service when you have to care for 1/3 of the restaurant. They were overwhelmed with DoorDash/uber eats orders and based on recent reviews this doesn’t seem to be just a restaurant week issue. I saw No management in front or back of house helping or apologizing to guests for the long wait times. Overall it was 2 hours and 23 minutes from when we first got our name put on a random sticky note to when we left and 1 hour 33 minutes from being seated to leaving when we put our order in as soon as we sat down.
Unfortunately the food was not good enough to make up for this poorly managed restaurant and will be choosing to dine elsewhere next time we are in the Park Circle area.

Good experience, but due to the noise level the wait staff misunderstood what we wanted.

Most weekends we would order take out from basil park circle, we had so issues, we stopped ordering from them. Our youngest daughter was home for thanksgiving and were deciding what to eat- she insisted on basil based on all the times we have enjoyed it. Well, tonight, more of the same, delivery came no rice for the main courses.
Goodbye Basil, not sure what has happened, but we are done.

Sitting here right now. Waiting over an hour for pad Thai and stir fry. Kitchen is a mess. Server said they haven’t even started making it yet. Cancelled the order. Will never come back. Pho was great tho.

Basil Park Circle is a case study in gross mismanagement. The place has everything going for it: prime location in the heart of Park Circle, authentic, fresh and affordable food, and a front of house team who is eager to provide a pleasant experience.

Sadly, the restaurant has been completely overrun by Uber Eats , Door Dash, etc., and now primarily operates as a ghost kitchen. Good luck getting a traditional takeout order, as the kitchen won't even start to cook it until an hour after you place it.

If you cancel your order, the restaurant will still charge you, and it will be up to you to call them back and ensure you get a refund. This has happened to us more than once. Even then, you will be lucky if they don't accuse you of fabricating your story and requesting a refund in bad faith.

Worst of all is the poor teenage hostesses who have to deal with the chaos at the door. Between sleeveless Uber drivers, hungry takeout patrons, and dine-in customers who just want to find a seat, I have never seen real management up front. Instead, it's always these good-intentioned but powerless teenagers who have been placed by management in an untenable position.

I have sworn off Basil on multiple occasions, but this last one was for good. My recommendation to management: limit your door dash and uber orders, focus on the people ordering from you directly, and find a better way to manage your kitchen and front of house.

Literally the most expensive and skimpiest curry I have ever had. I ordered pick up. One of my favorite foods is curry. I used to live in Thailand and it reminds me of home. The curry I got here was less than 8oz of broth. I legit didn't even use the rice because if I had it'd just be rice with a drop of curry broth. The worst part is this is the most expensive curry I have purchased in Charleston. Save your money and go anywhere else.

I hate to leave a negative review, however, my experience at Basil last night was so terrible that I feel compelled to do so. It was extremely busy and they were clearly understaffed, so my party and I were trying to give them some grace and be patient, however it took over an hour after ordering drinks to even get the drinks, two of which were never delivered (2 canned beers, 1 bottled beer and 1 glass of wine). The food took over an hour as well, and they didn’t bring it all out. In fact, my meal was never brought out. They didn’t deliver any rice with the curries. We had to ask 3 times to various people before finally one bowl of rice was brought out, by which time the curry was cold. We ordered soup for the table that was served in a metal carafe type thing which was dropped off without any spoons or bowls. We had to wait for someone to come by and specifically ask for bowls (not sure how they thought we were going to eat the soup?) We didn’t complain and simply asked that they made sure to not charge us for the food/drinks that were never brought out. Not once did anyone apologize or try to reconcile for the disaster of a dinner. I certainly wouldn’t expect any free food or anything, but I would, at the very least, expect an acknowledgment and apology for the clear mistakes and awful service. 0/10 would recommend. Wish I could give some positive review for the food or something but I never received my meal so…

Very mediocre Thai that is mostly dumbed down. The Thai Beef Salad is more like a typical salad with a Thai dressing that was heavy on the fish sauce. The Spring Rolls were mostly rice noodles and some small bits of shrimp. If you like real Thai this isn’t the spot.

Pad Thai was excellent. Red curry shrimp was chicken brothy. The brown rice was excellent. The water did not taste filtered. The waitress never came back after she served the food.
