L&L Hawaiian Barbecue Charleston, SC

I love love LOVE L&L…. I grew up in Hawaii and haven’t been there in a long time. So it made me happy when this one popped up in Charleston! I’ve had their kalua pig plate, however tonight, I got the “lighter garlic shrimp” plate since I’ve been on a healthy journey and tryin to make better choices. And I’m sad to say I was very disappointed with my order 😩 the shrimp was not prepared at all how I remember and the shrimp was very over cooked. The plate also said it had brown rice, and I got white. I love this restaurant and I still recommend it to everyone. But I do think they need to work on their shrimp plate a little.

Ahhhhmaaaazing!!!!!! I have long enjoyed the Asian Pacific Islander culture and cuisine. L&L is a staple in the Hawaiian islands. This location brings it all to life!!!!! DO NOT HESITATE TO GO HERE!!!!! OWNER IS AUTHENTIC AND SO IS HER STAFF!!!!! I enjoyed reliving my time in Guam, Hawai'i and the Micronesian Islands!!! We will make this location a regular rotation, for sure. Please patronize this restaurant!!!! They are worthy of it and are the real deal!!!! Much Aloha here! Mahalo for everything!!!!

I came in there to use the bathroom I say can buy drink and she told me no the lady was up front told me I still couldn’t use the bathroom I love there food this is first time where I couldn’t use bathroom even if I buy a drink she was so unprofessional I ask plaz just let me use the bathroom and her reply was no I can’t use it

I have never seen Hawaiian food like this is my life and we have been all over the United States. The food was gross 🤮 my family and I never ate it all because it was too nasty. We threw it in the garbage. Plus the portions are very small. I would never come back. Don’t waste your time or money. Our bill was all most $65.00 I should have went up and asked for a refund and gave them the food back.

I go here when I want to treat myself to a feast! They look after us military guys too.

Overall, food is good except the rice. Rice is simple to make and somehow, they make it VERY mushy. Either they use way too much water, let the rice sit on warm in the rice cooker overnight, or don’t know how to cook rice. I’ve seen previous comments where others feel the same way from other portals, so I’m not the only one. Just very concerning that a Hawaiian restaurant doesn’t know how to cook rice. It’s like going to restaurant that specializes in breakfast but don’t know how to fry an egg.

Placed a catering order and while I haven’t picked up the food yet, the customer service was outstanding. I’ve loved L&L for many years and was happy to see a location in Charleston. I’ll update once I’ve picked up the food.
