Disappointing Experience – Shrinkflation Without Transparency
My family has been customers of PW’s Frozen Custard in Rock Hill for years, but tonight’s visit left me extremely disappointed.
We ordered two shakes and two dirt cups, and the total came to $32.90 (including 20% tip paid before product received). What surprised me was the size of the dirt cups. They were less than half the dirt cups we’ve received in the past. In fact, my son was there just last week and received what most customers would recognize as the traditional dirt cup size.
When I asked the employee why the cups were smaller, I was told these were now “custard” and that they contained the same amount as the previous soft server dirt cups. Naturally, I asked whether that was based on actual volume or weight, and no clear answer was provided.
As a customer, it’s frustrating to be told a noticeably smaller serving contains the same amount without any measurements or explanation to support the claim. If portions have changed, that’s the business’s decision, but customers deserve transparency. Calling a smaller container the same name while implying it’s the same serving size feels misleading.
For nearly $33, I expected better value and clearer communication. The product itself tasted good, but when portion sizes appear to shrink while prices remain premium, it leaves customers feeling taken advantage of.
I hope management will clarify whether the serving size has actually changed and, if not, provide the measurements to support that claim. Long-time customers notice these differences
Been going for many years. The ice cream and smoothies are great but don't expect much from staff- our last 3 experiences have been … meh. Great food, meh 🙃 service.
