Boondocks Restaurant

Was looking forward to visiting here while in the area as we usually do but they were closed. Hours posted online are not correct.

My 5 year old grandson and I had date night, Friday night...We loved the food & he loved getting so much attention from our waiter and waitresses. Thanks for a great night!!

We have always loved this place. We truly hope the restaurant can reopen. I know I share my mother's sentiment when I say shrimp night was a night we always looked forward to.

UPDATE: 10/10/2020: Sign in the window says "CLOSED UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE" Stopped by during dinner hours today (Saturday) to find the place dark and that sign in the window. ?I had the "boonie bird" - chicken topped with crab cake and smothered with mozzarella. The bay sauce was awesome, and the fried okra was crisp and crunchy. If you're in the neighborhood, don't let its drab interior fool you. The place is awesome.

Boondocks has closed as of October 2020. No date for reopening has been announced at this time. Hoping someone can reopen in this spot as it’s one of the closest restaurants to Hunting &’Fripp Islands.

My husband and I always enjoy their no frills atmosphere. Never had a bad meal there.Husband had the prime rib special and I had the seafood platter. Very generous portions.The only reason I didn't give 5 stars is because the oysters were over cooked. Everything else was very good.Wait staff was very friendly.

We are a few nights into our vacation and we are so happy that we went to Boondocks for dinner! Amazing food and the kindest staff - they were so welcoming and we really felt at home talking with them. Would recommend that everyone go here - and make sure to get a Boonie Ball for dessert!

If your looking for a high end fancy dinner, this is not your place, BUT, if you want fantastic service and the most fun servers and bartender.... This is the best! We had so much fun and the food was good.

Delicious seafood cooked to perfection! The stuffed flounder is killer ?

Local stop Pretty much stop couple times a week coming off charters.Have a drink or two. Sometimes busy and takes a while.

Walking in we knew it was a small cozy place that maybe seemed a little outdated but once we sat down we were treated like family. The waitress and hostess were extremely nice and it was nice to chat a bit about the area. The food was delicious and arrived quickly. While we may have been one of two tables, everyone there was attentive and made sure our experience was good. Would definitely recommend for good food and good atmosphere.

We’ve been trying to support local restaurants during the pandemic but this place is it’s own worst enemy. Our take out order was so screwed up with the wrong items and food missing and on top of that they upcharged. Management should not let the young hostess be in charge of orders. Adding insult to injury was the unspectacular food. We will not return.

We decided to try this place regardless of some bad reviews.... wish we had listened. From the person taking our order to the cashier...they didn't seem like they knew what they were doing. Cashier had to have someone help count our change. I ordered Shrimp and SCALLOPS Alfredo... didn't get any scallops at all. Noodles weren't done. My husband had fried shrimp, which was good. A pound is plenty for 2 people BTW. Back to Johnson Creek Tavern for us!

Wednesday night is ? night, .50 ! Can't go wrong with that. Blackened fried or steamed! They are delicious. I highly recommend this place. Every time we visit hunting island we eat here. You won't be disappointed

Best fried shrimp ever. Staff is friendly and their response to covid has been great. We ate here (literally) every day of our vacation except Monday, when they were closed.
