What a huge loss to our community that in two weeks Cakehead Bakeshop will be no more! Of all of the fabulous places downtown, this is my favorite. It has always been my go to spot for gloriously decorated and delightfully delicious celebration cakes! Our gracious and talented Liz and her wonderful staff have done a fantastic job through the years with her mouth watering cookies and cupcakes as well. I can only hope that one day Liz will come back to us, treating us once again to her array of gourmet goodies! Until then I will wait, mouth watering and fork in hand Janice Pack

The cupcakes at this shop are fantastic. The cake is dense with a large crumb and very flavorful. The frostings are not too sweet. We tried red velvet cake, crème brí»lée, Smore, lemon blueberry, and more. Every single one was delicious.

Love Cakehead! Their biscuits are unbelievably good (especially the sweet potato bacon!). I also love their cookies, cake, and everything I've tried.

They prepared my son the best King's Cake ever for his 15th Birthday.

Cozy place, different types of cakes, I came to buy the King Cake, good taste, friendly, the cakes are inside the coffee shop, park on the street, small place.

First time in yesterday. Went for some Mardi Gras breakfast favors. They were sold out of beignets and pieces of king cake. Oh well, my fault. Should have gone earlier. Instead we got Queen Cake and Mardi Gras pound cake. Divine. Though next time I'll get my order in early.

Ultimately, I was too stingy with my review of Cakehead. Each time I go I may have a criticism or two about the items purchased but overall, Cakehead is my go to place for delicious baked frosted treats. I think they do a great job of appropriately balancing bitterness and sweetness. I tried their triple chocolate cupcake recently and was not disappointed. My slight criticism was that I could detect an aftertaste of silicone. I am familiar with this because I have accidentally put my own silicone baking sheets in a high heat wash, resulting in this aftertaste in my own baked goods.

Cute business next to a book store in back of the coffee shop. Cupcakes were average. The icing was actually hard and crunchy on the outside. One of the three cupcakes we tried had buttercream icing but it tasted like it was make with Crisco. Not a place I will go back to to satisfy my sweet tooth but I am sure other people will enjoy this type of cupcake.

Delicious in a word. I love their cakes and a couple of their really large cupcakes are moist and delectable. It took a bit to find, inside of bookstore at the back room, but worth it. The young ladies that run Cakehead will work with you on getting the taste in cake you want. It's worth finding. Prices are not bad, either.

I'll start my review with a disclaimer: I'm a cake snob. My mother is a baker and I've been around fantastic baked goods all my life, so I usually don't love cakes baked elsewhere. I've also never been particularly fond of cupcakes themselves, because I usually find them to be too dry. Then I found Cakehead, and everything changed. Liz and her team are personable and lovely to interact with, and the quality of their products are unsurpassed. The variety of flavors and offerings is such that I could easily visit every day and try something new each day--and not get the same thing twice for at least a few months! Their cupcake flavors are mind-blowing and the fillings always provide a delicious surprise. Cakehead's macarons are the best I've had anywhere, and their pies, biscuits, and quiches are also divine. I would recommend my favorites, but there are too many! Pro tip: get a punch card. You may feel guilty after you've bought ten cupcakes, but hey, you can get a free cupcake! (There's also a punch card for cookies that works for macarons as well!)

I absolutely loved this place! They have delicious pastries, a chocolate brownie with chocolate fudge frosting to die for, and they have gluten free selections on Wednesday!
