If you are looking for live music without having to stay at a bar all night, this is the place for you. Music is 6:00-9:00 pm so for us old fellows it’s great.

Fretwell is a favorite place in Spartanburg with chill vibes, offering delicious food, drinks, and coffee. It features a great park-like setting with indoor and outdoor seating, an open green area for kids to play, and games like giant connect four. There is immediate access to the Rail Trail, making it a nice spot for a treat after a walk or run. Live music is held on the lawn in the right seasons.
The café serves excellent made-from-scratch foods. Popular items include the chicken pesto sandwich, the pb+j sandwich on house-made sourdough, sweet potato tacos, hamburgers, and a berry and feta salad. They also have mac-n-cheese bites, fried pickles, cookies, and pastries. The kitchen has its own brick smokehouse to cook and smoke sandwich meat on site. The staff is friendly and helpful.
It is a perfect weekend kind of hang-out-with-friends-and-family spot, though it is not open on Sundays. There can sometimes be a wait for food and drinks, but the experience is overall worth it.
