Food quality was very poor. Steak was very tough, not fresh, lots of grizzle, not grilled as expected. Too much lime used to prepare meat. Taco salad shell and chimichanga shell were stale. Lettuce in taco salad was old and wilted. Flavors in both items were off. Mentioned concerns to waiter and he shrugged. Will not go back.

The service was consistent and attentive. The food came out quickly. The menu is huge with many options. Everybody seemed to enjoy their food. I would get something different next time.

Always the best fajitas. Great environment and salsa bar as well.
Very good food for a good price, usually good service, but we have definitely felt a little left behind a couple of times. Always a great stop for dinner

They charge prepaid 18% tips, then after that they don't show up to ask if we need anything. I paid $3.49 for a drink but left the restaurant thirsty, no one was around to ask for refill. Why to approach guests if the tips have already received?! Bad service!

Excellent food and service. Our waiter was always around checking on our food and drink refills. Great atmosphere! We will be back.

First let me say - for YEARS now, Papas and Beer is my GO TO favorite place. I have lived in Anderson, Greenville and Boiling Springs and choose Papas over any other place. I send all my recommendations for Mexican food to this place. I recently moved to Spartanburg and went to eat at this Papas and Beer last night just before 9pm. It was the worst experience. I always order Quesabirria tacos - I ordered this here and they covered the tacos in mole type sauce and had no broth. I asked about it, because I have never seen it served this way, and they said “well that's fresh”. I didn't have any concern for fresh - it was not birrria tacos - it was not what I ordered. I also attempted to go to the salsa bar and - at 9pm - one hour before closing - it was closed up and not able to be accessed. I was so bothered by this whole experience - never once was I offered an apology, and alternative meal, or access to the salsa bar. Meanwhile two waiters were “hanging out” at the table next to me talking and chatting with their friends and they had flipped up all chairs on the tables in the restaurant by 9 pm and had a check sitting on my table - trying to rush me out. I will not use papas and beer in spartanburg ever again.
