Have eaten here many times since it's a local place. However, the last experience was 3 lbs. of pulled pork with two of their sauces to take home and feed company. Everyone loved it. It just reminded me of how good their pulled pork really is.

My wife is, for lack of a better word, selective… especially when it comes to food. We travel to Charleston every year for our anniversary and have our regular spots to eat, but we always want to try one new restaurant each time and it is usually for dinner. We randomly ended up at hometown bbq for lunch while driving around Sullivans island and even my wife said it was her favorite meal of our trip. I’d have to agree. We will be going back every time we are in Charleston.

4 adults....1 kid and the only one who enjoyed it was the kids grilled cheese and he wouldn't even eat the tator tots and said they were nasty. The turkey..... Processed turkey that's supposed to be sliced with deli slicer for subway not served as a meal... The pork taste like it was cooked in a crockpot of vinegar with absolutely no smoke flavor. The potato salad.... Straight out the food service brand plastic container with no flavor. Baked beans were decent. "Smoked" chicken..... Definitely not smoked. Not a single smoke ring in any of the meat. The nachos tasted like stale dollar tree brand fake Doritos with mass concoctions of garbage all over them. The brisket chili had absolutely no smokey flavor and was gritty. The sweet tea tasted like a northern attempt at sweet tea.... 3 packets of Splenda later it was drinkable....and after $150+ dollars my stomach was still growling and we all had to stop and get something else to eat after we left. Highly disappointed.

Love Hometeam BBQ Sullivan’s Island. Been here several times - always a great experience. Food is consistently awesome. Service is always friendly and reliable. Only suggestion - get rid of the hanging lamp shades they block the TVs limiting seating for certain televisions. (And show Buffalo Bills on more than one TV - enough fans in to justify).

The carnita tacos are life changing! We went back a couple days later and I had to get them again. Amazing flavors! Also get a game changer drink. So good. This will be one of our spots now.

We ordered a 3-meat platter, chicken, brisket, and turkey and a half dozen wings. They were all amazingly delicious and moist. Expect 20-30 min wait during the lunch time on a weekend. We decided to order a takeout instead.
Parking: We had to drive around the block once to find a parking spot. We were lucky to find one near the restaurant.
Went to this particular location on a Friday night. Definitely a college aged vibe. Our wait wasn’t long (about 25 minutes for 6 people,) and there’s an outside bar while you wait. The chicken salad sliders were amazing!! The ribs were also wonderful! Their signature drink, the “Game Changer,” was everything I was promised it would be! I’ll definitely add this place to my list of favorites!
