If you’re looking for one of the best Japanese restaurants in South Carolina, Bushido is a spot you need to have on your list. From the ambiance to the presentation and flavors, everything here feels like a full experience not just a meal.
We started with a Mai Tai cocktail, and it was the perfect way to kick things off refreshing, slightly citrusy, and balanced with just the right amount of sweetness. Definitely a great drink to pair with their menu.
For food, we went all in and tried a variety of dishes, and every single one delivered:
The Sriracha Yami Udon noodles were a standout thick, perfectly cooked noodles coated in a rich, savory sauce with a slight spicy kick that builds in the best way. Super flavorful and comforting, but still elevated.
The classic hibachi lunch was another highlight. You get that perfect balance of grilled protein, seasoned rice, and sautéed vegetables. Everything tasted fresh, well-seasoned, and cooked just right. It’s one of those dishes that always hits.
For sushi, we tried both the Crab Crunch Roll and the Cooper River Roll, and they did not disappoint. The Crab Crunch Roll had that perfect crispy texture with a creamy, savory filling, while the Cooper River Roll felt a bit more elevated with layered flavors and a beautiful presentation. Both are must-orders if you’re a sushi lover.
The ambiance at Bushido is warm, cozy, and perfect for anything from a casual lunch to a date night. The service was also great friendly, attentive, and fast without feeling rushed.
Overall, if you’re searching for the best sushi, hibachi, and Japanese food in South Carolina, Bushido is definitely a place I recommend. From cocktails to noodles to sushi, everything was consistent, flavorful, and worth coming back for.

Located in the small shopping center in the Walmart parking lot, Bushido offers great place to go with a group of friends to enjoy sushi! The shop has excellent atmosphere, with several different sources of light and lives plants lining the walls and a small rock path near the bathrooms. Overall a solid option if you're looking for a quick bite for you, or a good place to bring your friends to chill!

Not flashy, not trying too hard..just clean, simple, and comfortable (honestly kind of refreshing these days 😌).
I was greeted and seated right away. Honey salmon + beef tataki were both solid, and the chomp champ roll did not disappoint.
But the squid sashimi?? The slight torch on the outside… that’s what did it for me 👏
Also, they have some really good lunch specials, which makes this spot even better if you’re trying to get good sushi without going overboard

I do not like soy sauce at all I have never ate sushi with soy sauce when I went to go exchange them for white sauce I was told I had to pay $.66. How does that make sense you gave me sauce that I never wanted never requested it, when I placed my order this place has lost my business.

Any negative reviews here are uptight egomaniacs. This place is absolutely awesome and we have always had the best service here. I bring my son here for his birthday every year and he won the grand price. We came later than we thought to honor the prize and they welcomed us in. So nice and always a nice break from the hustle and bustle of Summerville.
I went there on my birthday and it was very good they gave me fried ice cream on the house and the sushi was delicious 10/10 would recommend to people 🍣

The food was great, we ordered takeout for the family and when we paid we were given a spin at the wheel for a free meal in which we won. Unfortunately, upon our return they would not honor their commitment and the coupon they had sent us home with. So as far as the follow through and follow up business I’ll never spend another dollar in this establishment. People should always attempt to do their best in follow through when offering these services. Understandable if it is hot possible, but never sell people on something you have no intention of providing them. That’s faulse advertising and as far as I’m concerned unAmerican! Find another avenue of business if you intend to sell lies.

My wife and I had dinner there today. She had the hibachi scallops and I had 2 sushi rolls. The food was good as was the presentation. The cost was also modest and the service was good. The only complaint I have is they present you with a bill that has tip percentages predetermined that include the tax. That's a big no no tipping on tax and their software automatically does it.

We stopped in here on a spontaneous date night, and it turned out to be an excellent choice. The atmosphere was calm and relaxing, and the other guests were friendly and pleasant to be around. Our waitress was phenomenal—super attentive and informative. I’m not in this area often, but if I am and craving sushi or hibachi, you can bet I’ll be stopping by again. And be careful ordering the large carafe of sake. It's delicious and can sneak up on you.

We used to visit Bushido in West Ashley very frequently but once we moved it was too far of a drive. When the Summerville location opened we were so excited and of course became regulars. Over the years the food has continued to remain pretty consistent aside from a few times it wasn’t as fresh as others but nothing to really complain about. They also don’t support the military discount like the other location does which I found odd but it’s just a few dollars so it didn’t stop us from going. My reason for the 3 star rating is because they started doing a drawing if you spend over $50. We have literally spent thousands here so it was exciting to get something back in return. The first drawing we were given a card for free Wontons. We came a few weeks later but couldn’t redeem because we didn’t know it had to be used within 2 weeks of getting the card, nothing was told and nothing indicating this on the card. We didn’t expect it anyway so didn’t throw a fuss about it. That night we got another card this time for 3 special sushi rolls. We were thrilled! Came back within the 2 weeks but then was told that even though it says 3 rolls we could only get 1 roll per visit, again nothing was mentioned about this when we were given the card. This means you have to eat there 4 times (including initial visit) within 2 weeks to get all 3 rolls. That’s insane. We love sushi but that’s way too quick of a turn around time. I understand it is a way to get more business but it is misleading and gave us loyal customers a bad vibe. It is nice to offer promos like that but if you have qualifications that specific they should be given up front. Not sure if management has changed but this has def pushed us away.
Pretty decent Japanese food in a pinch. But I wouldn’t make it a habit to come here. All the Japanese basics, plus a good selection of sushi/sashimi. The prices are pretty steep, especially for the dinner time portions, especially since the food didn’t seem fancy or gourmet. It was pretty basic. The chicken was just chunked chicken with barely any sauce on it at all, I had to rely on the taste of the yum yum sauce for flavor. Broccoli was good, and the rice was solid. My wife said the sushi was 3/5. I will say the atmosphere is pretty good inside. Low light, and sort of relaxing. The outside of the shop needs some improvement though, but there’s only so much you can do at a strip mall. I can see myself coming back here if I wanted some Japanese food really quickly since it’s close to where I live. However, if I wanted more authentic or better quality Japanese, I’d go elsewhere. This is pretty generic. Overall, not terrible but not amazing.
