We had lunch at the Whistle Stop on Labor Day. The service was welcoming and wonderful! The food was delicious and just what we ordered. We also enjoyed the live music on the rooftop. My husband and I would definitely stop by again when traveling through Travelers Rest, SC.
Get the pretzel!
The fried green tomatoes really are the best I’ve ever had. The burgers are delicious, the cocktails were perfect, and Tori was a great server. Looking forward to our next visit.
Outstanding food. Ordered hamburger steak (wife) and catfish dinners. Substitutions very easy. Drink service good - full bar - martini perfect. Roof top bar also. Very nice and attentive server! Thanks Wendy!
First time eating here . Tori was an amazing server ! Very friendly even went out of her way in the rain to grab the beer I wanted ! Will definitely be coming back because of the great service and amazing food
Recently moved into town ! Tried this place for the first time today and we loved it . Tori the server was amazing extremely friendly she made us feel welcome instantly! The food was also top tier my very picky children ate every bite of their food def adding this place to my go to spots
I was just passing through town and saw a sign on the window for shrimp and grits. Being from the Savannah, GA area, I had to see their way of doing it. They did not disappoint. Rich, stone ground grits with a lovely, briny tomato base. Perfect size shrimp and the sausage added just the right amount of spice. Generous portion. Friendly and attentive staff. Quaint, charming atmosphere. I highly recommend a visit.
Arrived on Saturday afternoon with only a few couples dinning so there was lots of room and we ordered the daily special that was chicken and waffles, took a little while for the food to arrive and when it did the waffle was underdone and the chicken was very dry and tough like it was under the heat lamps. It was also to be served with mix berry compote but came with caned mandarin oranges. The waitress said there was a problem in the kitchen and eventually brought the mixed berry compote, when the waitress asked how the meal was I did share that the chicken was overcooked and the waffle undercooked. She said she would tell the cook, sad that this is our forth time dining there and it was good in the past but we won’t be back. When we are in TR we will visit other restaurants.
We used to really enjoy this restaurant, however, the past 2 times we’ve came, last time party of 4, this time 2, the food came out 1 meal at a time. Both times one member of our party did not receive their food. The waitress never came to see if food was served and ok. After everyone had eaten the order was cancelled. While I appreciate the gesture of a couple desserts, I feel that the manager should’ve come over, after an hour, and at minimum acknowledged and apologized and made some other gesture. We paid the bill and still gave the tip, so no one is looking for freebies here. However, we will go out of our to warn people about coming to the Whistlestop.
Worst experience-2nd time I did not get my food. Served other party at the table, forgot my food. Did nothing to make it right! Poor service, poor management, manager did not even visit the table. Avoid this place!

Loud and noisy. Had to capture the waitress for everything needed. Got the bbq sandwich. It was ok. Fries were good.
