First I’ll start with the positive aspects I encountered while eating lunch with my family. Food was delicious, workers were friendly, and bathrooms were clean. Some things that I noticed that were not so great… a young man up front was on his phone a lot and touching his face, I didn’t see him wash his hands once the whole 40 minutes I sat there. He wasn’t the only one I saw on his phone he was just the most noticeable. This made me queasy as most phones are disgusting considering how often they are touch. He and a couple other workers had headphones in while customer facing and it came off as disinterested in serving the customer as if they would rather listen to their music. As someone who has worked in the restaurant business for many years, I would have also made him put his long hair up. Overall wasn’t impressed, not sure I’ll come back.

I ordered a hot pastrami sandwich and asked for it to be extra hot. It was barely warm when I got it. This is not the first time I have been disappointed with the food or service here, but it will be the last time as I won't return again.

Overpriced and low quality. My sandwich was hemorrhaging with mayonnaise. It was slathered on both sides of my bread. I thought I ordered a turkey sandwich, not a mayonnaise sandwich. I guess I should have been more specific. See picture.

3/9 11:30 Walked up to read menu. East Bay Deli Unhappy cashier "Do you want to order." We just walked in and the menu is huge. I asked if the Ruben is part of the 1/2 sandwich deal for $12.99? The unhappy cashier said yes. I'll have that, she asked witch soup, I said Potato. She continued to add charges-extra for 1/2 sandwich 1.60 and .85 For cheese and .50 for soup. REALLY??? What happened to $12.99 We walked out and went to Firehouse Subs where they heated my cold cut sub???? Is it me?

I got a Cali Ruben and took a bite and almost threw up but I was nice enough walk to the side and not cause a scene. I told tell them it didn’t smell right or taste right. I asked if I could get my money back or get something else . They all laughed and look at me like I was crazy .So they got an attitude said it smelled fine and I told them take a bite then and you will see …eventually they made me a different sandwich was was good . How they handle the situation was not professional I could hear them and see them talking about me and my brother . I will never go back here again .

Disrespectful managersI have came to this deli many times, and this is not the first time I’ve heard this specific manager talk with such foul language to the staff workers. There’s this one white male manager who I believe named Troy, and he always treats others with the no respect, I have witness him yelling and cussing out more than one staff member before. Today I witness him yelling “Get off your f word phone before I take it” to these young teenagers that also work there. The whole staff continued to work after he said that statement, this must be a normal occurrence in things that he says. He honestly needs to be fired, it’s ridiculous how he treats the workers and customers.

I truly wouldn't recommend eating at this Deli. Salad mix goes bad and the manager will still serve it. The manager has dropped French loafs on the floor picked it back up and served it to customers. To any who has any questions I have photographic evidence of how messy and nasty the kitchen is and the employee's. The fryer is nasty, at night the cutting boards that they cut your food on does not get washed correctly just rinsed. So if u want to be healthy I wouldn't recommend East Bay Deli.
