Yells at employees and treats them like garbage. Take your money somewhere else

When you first walk in, the smell of delicious BBQ just hits you, and you immediately start salivating. I splurged and ordered the 2 meat combo - pulled pork and chicken salad, with a side of cole slaw and corn bread. I added a side of sweet potato fries and supported the youths at SDSU, and bought some ice cream as well.

Pulled pork was phenomenal, with and without the BBQ sauce. Chicken salad was pretty stellar, I personally, like smaller pieces of chicken, but nonetheless, it was still delicious. Coleslaw was perfectly tangy. The cornbread was a little dry, but the butter and honey they provided made up for that. The sweet potato fries were a hit, too. Perfectly fried and seasoned nicely. The ice cream was nice and creamy and the best way to end this feast.

Great barbecue at a decent price! And quick service!

Average BBQ place. Served as sandwiches, not just meats, which is in small text, so be warned. I just wanted meat and sides. Maybe a better clarification on the menu would be useful.

Small portions for the cost, both sides and meat. Meat was ok but all shredded for sandwich. Couldn't get a beer either as servers couldn't serve one. Tortilla soup was good but see picture, not even half way full bowl, apparently to get a full bowl it counts as 2 sides. Hear something new every day.

Loved the mustard bbq sauce though. Definitely try if you come here, Smell inside was great.

Good value for the money, but the ribs were dry and did not have much meat on them.

Been here a couple times, both pulled pork and pulled chicken were both and tasty and ample on the bun. Love their fries and very good baked beans. Several beers on tap.

Payton did an excellent job taking care of us. I had the brisket without the bun, out was great. The fresh cut fries were really good as well. My wife had the pulled pork sandwich with BBQ spaghetti which was a first for us. The mix of marinara and BBQ sauce along with the pulled pork was a great flavor together.

Pulled pork is ok….ribs are better…baked beans are great. Biggest problem I have is the oddball hours. I have to drive to Brookings and when they close at 3:30 on Saturday and not open on Sunday….???
Well… they missed $50 revenue from me.

Seems like they only want to serve lunch then. Ok… please put your hours up in a sign that can be read from the parking lot please…..and keep them.

Don’t give me lame excuses about posting hours on your website….you want to do that …go back to a food truck….you are brick and mortar…act like it.

Your potential revenue is going to other places in town…. Your neighbors gotta love you for it.

I met with old friends for lunch at the Backyard BBQ at opening time. The staff were polite the establishment was spotless. They had music playing and it was the right level of volume allowing conversation without having to raise your voice. The place filled up quickly showing its popularity with local residents.
The food was excellent having the pulled pork burger combo with hashbrowns and mac & cheese.
Highly recommended to anyone!

Great food and great service. For the food you get it's similar price to most fast food places but better!

One of our favorite places in town to eat!Smoked meats are great! My son says they have the best chicken strips in town and my daughter loves the Mac and cheese! ?We use them for family gatherings and they supply plenty of delicious meats and buns!I personally love the catfishAndthe reason that I decided to write this review the wings!Historically, for me anyway, their wings have been… fine. Edible but I’ve had better. And usually just got them as a snack.Tonight I had some top tier wings! Crispy skin and tender meat! Perfectly cooked and good sized! I was impressed and very excited to go back and have MORE!
