I love this place! I come here all the time to do school work and the food and environment is always outstanding. The baristas are always so nice and willing to give you honest opinions on drinks and food items. The vibe is calm and rustic feeling, very welcoming and positive. I would argue that this is one of the best coffe shops in South Dakota!
I love all of the teas and variants of chai at Kool Beans!
The bagels are also quite good. The pastries and such are great! However, I do not enjoy the avocado toast. I was expecting mashed or sliced avocado, but I suspect it was preserved/bagged avocado. That’s totally fine though, since avocados go bad so quickly. THE BREAD ITSELF WAS GREAT THOUGH!
The service is always great, and I enjoy going there to study and hang out with friends!

What a hidden gem Brookings has in this coffee shop. Ok, maybe not hidden if you live in town but if you are just traveling through or visiting it is. It seems it's often hard to go wrong when choosing to visit a coffee shop that also roasts it's own beans like this place does. Bonus points for also knowing how to make an off menu traditional flat white!

Favorite coffee shop in the area! Great service, always willing to adjust drinks as needed, drinks are wonderful. Also, fantastic ambience.
