Rays is by far the best bar in brookings. The atmosphere is fantastic, nice mix of the college crowd and locals. Come here if you want a good experience!!

This was a cool dive bar and my favorite during a week long stint in SD. I tired several places but always found myself back here for cold drinks and good times in a great atmosphere . Bartenders were the best . It is cash only so bring paper money .

I am a Brookings local, moved out of state and came back to visit.... and was pretty disappointed about how rude, aloof, and unfriendly the current bartenders are (the young blonde girl and the taller, heavy set dark haired woman). The young ladies that work there need a big lesson on customer service. The least you could do is make eye contact, smile, and act like you're not totally miserable. I love Ray's, but the recent bartenders attitudes really put a damper on my experience both nights I was there. We even over-tipped and they were not appreciative whatsoever. Please talk to your bartenders about what good customer service entails.

Pleasant. Good prices on good drinks. Atmosphere is a little right-wing for my tastes, but if you can get past that, it's a nice local small bar. Popcorn was free and plenty tasty.
