Gold Pan Saloon Custer Reviews
We stopped in here while we stayed the night in Custer and the locals were very welcoming. Ryan and Ellie spoke to us like we were long time friends. The bartender and manager treated us very well. If I wasn't from Illinois I'd go back at least bi-weekly. I can't comment on the drinks. I was DD and just had cherry coke.
Friendly staff awesome burger! We stopped in on a Sunday afternoon for a beer and ended up coming back later for a burger. Incredibly friendly service. Jim was great!
My friends & I stopped at Gold Pan Saloon on Sunday 7:00pm for a drink. We walked out after 15mins because the female bartender completely ignored us. There were only 9 people in the whole place.

The Gold Pan Saloon Custer offers a welcoming atmosphere with friendly staff and a diverse menu. Known as the oldest saloon in the Black Hills, it has a cool vibe and clean bathrooms. The bartenders are knowledgeable and create great mixed drinks like margaritas that are not too sweet. They also serve a variety of food, including delicious dishes like pork chops, chicken wings, and Walleye Sandwich with fries. The saloon hosts fun events like Tuesday night Bingo, providing a lively and enjoyable experience for all. Visitors enjoy the experience of entering and exiting through the saloon doors, making it a fun stop after a day of hiking.
The menu may not be updated online, and the place can get loud when there's a football game on or live music playing. Customers recommend having a separate waitstaff for the dining room to ensure prompt service, especially when the bar gets busy. The NY Strip steak and burgers are praised as excellent, and the atmosphere is fun and lively. Overall, the Gold Pan Saloon is a favorite spot in the Black Hills, known for its friendly bartenders, cold beers, and good food.
