“Cozy little place with indoor and outdoor seating. The pizza was really tasty and the young lady (sorry I didn't catch your name) at the counter was so sweet and inviting. If you're passing through Custer, check out this little gem.”

“Amazing, easy drive thru! It gets busy, but everything was delicious, and they even had little dog bones for the pups. I am sad we have to leave Custer because I want to take this place with us.”

“The lodge is cozy and we often had the hot tub to ourselves. The lodge is dog friendly with so many great hiking trails right out the door. They have UTV rentals and have a great resturant across the street. We also saw the mountain goats on our way out of the canyon. Our phones did not work unless connected to wifi, which is nice to disconnect.”

“What an all around delightful place! I stayed next door ( which was also amazing!) and visited each morning. It brightened my morning! Their front staff is so kind and friendly and genuinely excited to see you each morning. The food was delicious! My favorite was the ham and egg croissant! So fresh and I don’t know what they did to the egg but it was just so creamy! Yum! They have a wonderful, family friendly atmosphere. The deck is beautifully decorated with colorful umbrellas and beautiful flowers. They have a huge room with a jumbo sized chest board on the floor for the kids to play with. They have freshwater and strawberry water and free apples to grab. The inside is decorated so whimsically and fun. All around a 10!”

“I’ve been living in Custer temporarily for the past 6 months and every time I’ve gone into that subway - I’ve left feeling so good and full!! Justin is quite the artist over there!!
If you ever get a chance to go to this location: ask for Justin and have him make you his signature sandwich! It’s a killa!!!! I no longer order anything else on the menu other than this sandwich! It’s absolutely glorious!!”

“We went on a whim, a bit of a random excursion. This turned out to be one of the hidden gems, with solid food. Really cool looking at the small lake, and soaking in a bit of nature as we passed through.”

“We stopped in here while we stayed the night in Custer and the locals were very welcoming. Ryan and Ellie spoke to us like we were long time friends. The bartender and manager treated us very well. If I wasn't from Illinois I'd go back at least bi-weekly. I can't comment on the drinks. I was DD and just had cherry coke.”

“If you’re ever in the Black Hills at breakfast time, this is a place you’ll want to stop. Combination bakery and cafe. I ordered two eggs basted soft, sausage, toast and hashed browns. Eggs were done just right, hashed browns we freshly grated, not frozen, and the toast was bread baked on site. Lauren was my waitress and kept my coffee cup full. On the way I. You’ll walk past the pastry case, featuring cinnamon roll and caramel rolls as big as your head, turnovers, and god knows what else. And no, I did not have any…trying to bring my A1C down. But I was sorely tempted. I give them all the stars.”

“I love the history of the building and that it used to be a bank. The employees were really nice too.
My husband and daughter got the Twinkie ice cream and my son got chocolate. I got a hot fudge sundae, but they were pretty stingy with the hot fudge. I thought they forgot it, but they assured me it was there. Turns out there was a tiny amount underneath the ice cream. I really liked the peanuts on the sundae, but it desperately needed fudge, not the trickle of chocolate sauce hiding underneath.
My kids and husband were satisfied with their ice cream though.”

“I needed a spot to charge while camping, this place had lots of outlets. I had a chai which was delicious, then decided to get lunch as well. The portabella-feta “burger” was incredible. Staff were friendly and quick.
Note for queer safety: this business didn’t have any explicit pride flags but also didn’t have decor that suggests it wouldn’t be welcoming. There is only one bathroom which is all-gender. I was not the only visibly queer person there the day I went.
Accessibility: all one level, small lip at doorway to enter, wide space to navigate between tables”
