Carvers' Marketplace offers a view of Mount Rushmore that many visitors praise. The cafe is open during the off‑season, so there is no waiting in line for lunch. Guests can enjoy simple food at a not‑outrageous price, and the staff is super nice and attentive. Healthy snacks such as jerky sticks, protein bites, and “Chinky Nibbles” are also available. Coffee is served in a historic location with tall glass windows that show the monument. The ice cream is delicious and comes in two scoops; flavors include cookies n cream, invented in south dakota, and Thomas Jefferson's vanilla with specks of vanilla bean. The Dakota Bison Bacon Cheeseburger with fries is a favorite. Many people eat outside to take in the nice view of Mount Rushmore. Service is quick, the space is huge, and the cafe stays clean. Visitors who attend the Evening Lightning Ceremony often get ice cream a couple hours before it starts because it gets busier the closer it is to the ceremony.
