Two words: unexpected and amazing. Don't want to spoil the surprise or pre-determine expectations by saying more. Get a reservation and enjoy!

What an experience! The food was amazing. From appetizers soup entree and dessert. The oysters were the best I've ever had! We went for our anniversary and they moved us the the chef table and made us feel so special. Every detail matters to them there and it shows. Will be going back again and again!

We hosted a small, private micro-wedding dinner here, and everything was wonderful — from the menu to the service. The food was absolutely delicious, and the team added thoughtful touches that made it feel like the most special family-style dinner. We’ll definitely be back the next time we’re in South Dakota!

I've eaten here twice. Simply put it was the finest swordfish I've ever had both times. It is small and intimate, and you must make a reservation.

We absolutely love this place. Came here for my Grandmother’s 80th birthday, and again for me and my partners 3rd anniversary. Both times we had Jake N. as our server. He was amazing both times, always attentive but not overbearing, extremely friendly and always had a smile on his face. Not to mention the Pumpkin Ravioli, the Duck Breast, and the Buffalo Short Ribs are to die for. We will be back for sure!

We first dined at Skogen Kitchen last October while visiting Custer, and we’ve talked about that meal ever since — it easily surpassed anything we’ve had in our own city or even the nearby larger one. We finally returned last night with family, and it was just as incredible as we remembered!

The steamed lobster buns were out of this world, the salmon was perfectly cooked, and the yuzu caviar on top was pure magic 🙌🙌🙌. My husband’s wagyu was outstanding, and our two family members both ordered the duck confit, which was exactly as our server described — tender, flavorful, and falling right off the bone.

We had a new waitress who was in training (I wish I could remember her name!), and she did a fantastic job — friendly, attentive, and fully in line with the top-notch service we’ve come to expect from Skogen Kitchen.
We can’t wait to return again — this place is truly something special!

There is nothing about this place that we don't love. It has never disappointed us. Chef always takes us on a journey of our taste buds. Highly recommend

Skogen Kitchen was great! I had the beef tartare tacos, duck confit, and the rum cake for dessert. All of which were very good. I wish I could have tried more of the menu, but I’ll be back next time I’m in town. My only suggestion is that it would be nice to have an amaro or two to the menu, but that may not be possible with the liquor license stuff. At any rate…don’t skip on Skogen!

If going to Skogen Kitchen for the first time, do the Chef Choice option with the wine pairing. AMAZING and you won’t be disappointed. Definitely a 5-star experience!!

Fantastic meal. We had oysters, tomato salad, tartare tacos, risotto and a venison special. All of them outstanding. Service was excellent as well.

This is my husband’s and my favorite restaurant. Chef Joseph and his team go above and beyond to provide you a dining experience that feels like once in a lifetime food and service. We eat here for special occasions, and of the 15-20 times we’ve dined here, we have never had anything but an overwhelmingly positive experience. The food is elite, the team is so accommodating and kind, and I love the environment. The chef’s counter gives you a little peak into how their restaurant functions, and it’s so fun to watch their team work. They all seem to get along and have fun. Our only wish is that they had a second location in Rapid City so that we could eat here even more often. Kudos to skogen, Chef Joseph, and your team.
