The Prairie Dog Food Truck/Taproom

Our daughter told us about how awesome this place was! I wasn’t sure how it all worked but the owner walked us through everything so we knew how to work it all.. We have never been to a place like this and wow!!! How fun and perfect for someone who wants to sample a few different beers without the pressure of big lines and worrying you didn’t choose right!! (Or just wanting a little bit of a beer at a time without it getting warm before you are done) I loved the help yourself and just the super fun atmosphere!! The owners and staff were super helpful and very friendly. We didn’t get food but it all looked and smelled so delicious!!! We will absolutely be back!! Thank you for such a fun evening!

We walked in the door and we’re met by one of the owners who immediately introduced himself and took us on a tour of the brewery. This place is phenomenal, and I play my share of breweries in Southeast South Dakota and the tri-state area of Iowa Nebraska. This is gonna be one of the funniest breweries I have ever been in highly recommended!!!

The atmosphere is relaxed but lively, with great music, friendly staff, and a space that invites conversation. It’s the kind of spot where you can sip a fantastic beer, soak in the small-town charm, and just enjoy being there. Absolutely worth the stop if you’re in the Black Hills!

First impressions stopping by today were great, but then our experience was a bit mixed after that.

The owner gave us a tour and showed us how to use their self-pour system. Then he asked what beer I wanted and poured more then I would have liked, as well as adding some small charges from touching a few taps that he said he would remove from my bill, which didn't happen until I asked the server to take them off.

We ordered a bison brat, cheesesteak sandwich, and a bison burger. The brat and cheesesteak sandwich were quite tasty, but the burger was cold. The owner remade it, which was appreciated, but the patty seemed like it was just heated from a frozen package and was very messy. I don't recommend the burger.

After getting the extra beer charges removed from my bill, we paid and left. On my way back into town, I noticed my credit card had been charged twice for $70.

When I called the owner, he said it happens sometimes.

Great environment. Nice service for the most part. Food was hit or miss. Billing is sketchy. It doesn't please me to leave this review as I really wanted to like this place.

High tech place for gen X but they walked me through the process of getting my own beer.
I like it. This will be my new place when visiting the area.

I was highly impressed with the quality of food and beer at this wonderful restaurant. I highly recommend this place for a great pizza and a great selection of craft beers. A MUST visit spot when going thru the hills and a GOTO for Sturgis goers.

I need an option for 10 stars. Do not sleep on Prairie Dog. The atmosphere is great, owners and staff are over the top friendly, but the food is the real star. Pizza and cheesesteak were both phenomenal. Hands down some of the best food in the Black Hills.

HANDS DOWN BEST HOT DOG I'VE EVER HAD!!! Reasonable priced, family friendly, and the workers there are so sweet!

Great place with a wide variety of taps, beer and wine. Or get domestic beverages. Pizzas have been coming out consistently so they must be good. We'll be back!

Played here with my band. They treated us very well. Also saw them treating all the patrons well. Will come back as a patron when we’re in the area.

Wish I could give this place 6 stars! This is a must-stop if you're looking for great food, a variety of beers, and a fun atmosphere. We stopped in with our young kids, who loved all the games (indoor and outdoor) and kid meals. I loved testing the nice selection of brews (you use a wrist bracelet and purchase by the ounce), and eating outside by the creek. We spoke with the owner, who showed us around and made us feel at home. The Custer and Pioneer sandwiches were fantastic, and so was the pasta salad. My only recommendations would be to keep some beer glasses chilled for those who like to drink from a cold glass, and a bourbon or two at the bar. This place was fun for the entire family!

Had a great time at Prairie Dog Brewery & Taproom! The staff was incredibly welcoming and made us feel right at home—especially helpful for first-timers. Great vibes, great beer, and overall an awesome experience. Highly recommend checking it out!

The food was fire! Chili dogs, pasta salad and baked beans hit the spot after a day of hiking. 10/10 on everything!

Ok so this is a Gem of a place! It’s what you make of it because it’s so many experiences in one. We sat inside and used the bracelet to taste many beers & wines at the taps. We also had a fantastic lunch( I had bison dog). So delicious!
Then there’s the lovely outdoor setting which can have live music check the schedule.
In the gift shop you’ll find their wine amongst other nice items.
The comfortable seating has a wide variety of options. To top it off there are also lawn games you can take outside to play.
A definite MUST STOP here !
