Ordered a steak medium rare, came out well done. Waitress was pleasant and offered to get another but I declined and used steak sauce. Salad was good.

We went sortly after opening for the day. The waiter was nice but seemed rushed, we were visited by the chef I think. Super clean, food was really good.

Excellent food in a nice quiet environment with comfortable seating. Very interesting how it is located in the place of the original Gem from the 1800s. If you're a fan of the HBO Deadwood series then take note the restaurant seems to honor another HBO series - Chernobyl, because that's how hot their horseradish is!. Far better than any horseradish I've ever eaten.

Extremely disappointing. Poor meal and value. We had prime rib and sirloin dinners on 9/20/2024 . The 12 ounce prime rib was 50% fat, very gristly, tough, and lacking flavor. The side of broccoli was mainly stems, almost NO florettes. The salad was minimalist and limpid. The draft beer was flat, served in a warm glass.

Seems every steak place in Deadwood believes their offerings are worth the $30-$45 range. Maybe that’s the consequence of a transient clientele. Checking subsequently with the locals (I am a former local), this apparently is not a recommended venue, and I now do agree. Avoid.

Ribeye was mediocre. Baked potato dry, half cooked, and cold. Fried pickles were great! Country fried steak and gravy was fairly good. Locale is an eyesore. Gabby was a wonderful server though!

My husband and I enjoyed the hickory sirloin. Steaks were cooked to order. Tasted very good. Atmosphere and service was great. Our son had the kids grilled cheese and fries. Good food and even family friendly.

We had a late lunch here today. My husband had the Outlaw Beef sandwich, he said it was fine but wouldn't order it again. I had the Claim Jumper Salad with ribeye steak. It was easily the most terrible salad I have ever had. Just under half the lettuce was inner core pieces and inedible. The steak was overdone on one and the other end almost rare(I had ordered it medium) and literally half the steak pieces(strips) were just fatty gristle. If my husband hadn't enjoyed his meal, and could give zero stars, I would have.

We ordered the prime rib with fries, the grilled chicken breast with garlic mashed potatoes, and we each got the tomato basil soup. The soup was actually a bisque, which would have been nice to know before ordering since it was made with dairy instead of vegetable or chicken stock like a normal soup. It was also unexpected that there were bacon bits in it, causing it to have a weird texture. The prime rib seasoning was sweet, which did not compliment the beef well. The grilled chicken was heavily seasoned with herbs and had a crust on it, which was not apart of the description on the menu. The mashed potatoes had an odd brown tinge to them and were slimy to the touch. The pictures posted by the restaurant do not show this tinge or wet, slimy look to the mashed potatoes. The vegetable was corn, which was very chewy. The chicken breast meal with inedible, and what should be the best part of the prime rib, the crust, had to be cut off. All that was said to us by an employee was, "I'm sorry the food was not up to your standards."

Menu says they have gluten free options but they do not. Don't go if you have a gluten allergy.

Very good food. We ate here for supper after getting into town, and later this week we had breakfast here. As good as the haddock and chicken were for dinner, they played in comparison to breakfast. The buttermilk pancakes were a foot in diameter, and incredibly fluffy and flavorful. The biscuits and gravy were good too.
