My husband and I had the 10oz sirloin. It was tender and delicious cooked to perfection. We highly recommend the sweet potato fries and mashed potatoes. Staff were attentive and kind, and we didn’t wait long for our food. The only thing I didn’t like was that my water and lemonade tasted bad…city water? Space was rustic and clean.

Nice place. A bit pricey, but good food.

Very pricey 55 for steak and the quality was poor. 6 people we all ordered different items. It’s one thing to have higher prices for a quality meal but none of us were satisfied. The waitress informed us it was prime meats. Our experience did not reflect that. Would not recommend or return.

The staff and ownership are dedicated to your dining experience. My wife and I had a great meal and drinks. A great place to reflect on the days events and enjoy yourself.

The chicken fried steak was awful the gravy looked like it was a day old the chicken fried steak straight out of a box. Not worth $27.00

Beautiful place but the food was definitely bland. Chicken fried steak tasted out of a box, mac n cheese tasted like chalk with over cooked noodles

This was our favorite restaurant that we tried in the Black Hills. We initially planning on visiting another restaurant that night, but the other restaurant had an hour and a half wait, so we decided to see what else was out there and we are so glad that we found 1885! We got right in at 1885. My husband had the ribeye, which the waitress asked us to cut into before she left to make sure it was cooked to expectations. It was and that small touch was much appreciated. He said it was the best steak he'd had in a long time - and he eats a lot of steak. I had the Cajun Walleye, which was also delicious. Perfectly seasoned and cooked so that it was moist and flakey. Our teenage kids also really enjoyed their burgers and fries. The wait staff was quick, attentive and courteous. All around a great experience! We would highly recommend this restaurant and will go back next time we are in the Black Hills.

Kid-friendliness: The menu and atmosphere were very welcoming for young and older kids.

Hill City was a last minute decision on our trip to SD. We were hungry after spending the day outside, so we pulled up restaurants here and decided on the 1880 Steakhouse & Saloon. As we walked up to the front doors it already smelled amazing. We were greeted with a friendly waitress and she took good care of us! My husband had the ribs and I had the ribeye (I did share my steak with him) and we shared the blueberry peach cobbler...everything was AMAZING!! So happy we stopped here!

Dry hamburger, rushed service, at 8pm they started washing the floors with us still at the table. High prices, even for South Dakota.
